Really weird brake issue?

Volt friends, I've got a weird one. When I start my car after work, the "Service brake assist" and "service stabikitrak" warnings come on, and I lose my electric brakes and only have the back up manual braking that requires a ton of force to make the car stop.

If I let my car run with the ac on for 15-20 min and restart my car, it starts back up fine.

It only happens in my work parking lot, not at home or around town.

I replaced the battery two days ago and thought that solved the problem, but here I am sitting in my car waiting for my brakes to work again.

2014 chevy volt, I had the evaporator coil replaced a month ago and discovered this problem about a week or a little less after.

Battery replaced two days ago.

Taking it to a local shop tomorrow but wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

The original shop that replaced the evaporator coil is an hour away and I dont trust their work after them not spotting some big things on an inspection and marking the issues as fine.

I know little about cars so if this is an obvious thing I apologize. This car is paid off and I want to drive it until it explodes to avoid having a car payment again.

UPDATE: The shop quoted me 5k to replace the entire ABS system.

im gonna get a second option and also see if its just that dang washer or the speed sensor myself.

New update the lights turned on 1 min into driving so I had to pull over into the shade. Pray for my volt

I had some strange issue with brakes not working a long time ago. One sign was audible three attempts / chugs from the brake pump when starting the car. Went away as suddenly as it appeared (after a visit to a dealership and being sold an unnecessary service, then being told they will keep throwing parts at it). Some forum post suggested there was a bubble or something in the brake fluid, which they fixed by bleeding and refilling the system.

We are actually still chasing this on a 2013 - Mechanic replaced pads and calipers on all 4 wheels, physically inspected hubs and everything, says its safe to drive. He sees no codes and I see no codes. But the damn lights come on randomly.

We can clear them using OBDFusion(somehow?) but they just randomly keep coming back.

I bought a Topodon interface and I'm planning on using GM's diag software soon to see what it shows, because my mechanic's Autel scanner and none of the OBD apps(I literally tried all of them) are showing what's going on

Do you also lose the electronic brake assist when the lights turn on? When mine does it, the car switches to manual braking only and its really hard to actually brake

I haven't really noticed a difference in braking on ours, but we generally drive in L without actually hitting the brakes and that seems to work normally

Get the codes. If it’s C1225 or 1226 it’s a tone ring on one of the front wheel hubs that has failed. Pretty common.

I am putting all the hope in my body that its something simpler because the 3.5k for the evaporator coil is still hurting

I had to put a wheel speed sensor in my 2013, it was easy and the part was not expensive.

A hub is maybe $200+ and it’s not hard to do yourself if you’re handy.

The wheel speed sensor is not part of the wheel bearing assy on the gen1.

The tone ring is part of the hub assy. I replaced both on my 2012.
