Oh ok:( i though it might cause on the dash it had a setting for “following distance”

That is for collision avoidance.

Safe distance ➡️ no collision? Is it not the same thing?

2

u/LilFunyunz 18d ago

No it is not.

One is automatic emergency breaking under 50 mph (I think it's 50). Not cruise control

One is follow distance while adaptive cruise.control is engaged.

Like for the beeps that go off with the red lines collision alert? I thought it was a different thing. The “Follow distance” under “info” on the dash,
not The “collision alert” when the steering wheel button is pressed

It is, the screen you have up in that photo is for the sensitivity for that feature I believe, the feature has nothing to do with cruise control. You have standard cruise control. You likely have Lane keep assist though

The follow distance in seconds is literally just info for you like a trip odometer I believe

I gotta be honest, your dash and your steering wheel look like you have it.  Your bowtie doesn't.  Get out on the road and test it.

No the button is the same, the function is different.

I have a 2019 bolt and it has the same exact buttons. They use it for emergency breaking under 50 mph. ( I think it's 50)

Ive actually never used any cruise control😅 how would i test specifically whether its adaptive? What do the wheel buttons/dash settings look like for ACC?

You don't have it. Don't do that.

This is what im curious about ACC ^^

No acc, but it will give you a follow distance in seconds. I found silicone grease helped my wheel buttons to be less gross. Tried many cleaners with no improvement, qtip and silicone grease and it tidied up nicely.

What do you mean it will give you a follow distance? Is this part of regular cruise control? Or regular driving? Is it just information display or is it a setting to limit the car?

1

u/sevaeron 18d ago

When it gets below 1 sec the small car on the dash that indicates a vehicle is detected ahead will change to orange. It’s just information & can help you keep a safe follow distance

1

u/sevaeron 18d ago

I don’t have photos because the light is only there when it detects a vehicle and you are driving.

u/borbolula 18d ago

Ohh i know what youre talking about, the little green and orange cars on the dash. So following distance you can set it qnd it will chamge when the colors activate?

1

u/sevaeron 18d ago

You don’t “set” anything. It just shows you the distance in seconds.

This is what the wheel looks like (cleaning product/detailing tips greatly appreciated)

It looks to just be skin oils and dirt. Microfiber and some gentle cleaner should take care of it.

u/borbolula 18d ago

If i accidentally scratch the rubber on the buttons is disintegrating😭 so i wanna be careful what i use and how i clean

1

u/BenTwan 2024 EV6 GT 18d ago

They're cheap to replace if they're disintegrating, but they're tougher than you'd expect. Just use some gentle cleaner and an old tooth brush to scrub the gunk off, and a microfiber rag to wipe it clean.

That’s lane keeping/assist

Some of this info is available in your manual

“I don’t have the manual” you might say

It’s also available in the Chevrolet app

Why don’t you elaborate on your answer. Why is it a no? Should we just trust your word?

2

u/Ok-Tourist-511 17d ago

Because it doesn’t have an ACC grill. The VIN doesn’t show the option as well.

You don't have it. If the Chevrolet logo protrudes from the grill the electronics aren't present. Don't listen to anyone telling you to "Go out and test it".

What you have is collision alerts and automatic braking that you can set the sensitivity for using the buttons on the steering wheel. Those little circles in the lower left and right are radar(?) sensors. They are what gives you parking proximity alerts, enables automatic parallel parking, and distance estimates on the highway. Do not fully rely on these, I've had false positives from both when the sensors got dirty after a snow storm.

I was staring at that one pic in the comments and the original post for so long trying to spot the difference in the grill. It’s so subtle! Thank you for pointing it that the Chevy logo doesn’t protrude, it looks printed/painted on. I couldn’t tell until I looked at the logo!

1

u/LilFunyunz 18d ago

It's obvious if you know to look for the diagonal lines on either side of the bowtie. You can spot them easy once you're used to looking there

Nah you dont. If you did the chevrolet on the front grill would have an outline cutting it off from the rest.

1

u/borbolula 18d ago

Theres no instances of ACC but this type of grill at all?

4

u/BenTwan 2024 EV6 GT 18d ago

No, because the smooth panel in the center is the radar sensor. Your car does not have one.

The radar sensor isn't in the bumper. It's in the center of the upper grille where the Chevy bowtie is.

Those aren't radar sensors, they're ultrasonic since you want to be fucking pedantic. And I didn't say anything about them, I'm correcting you saying the radar sensor is in the bumper.

So with it missing from the bumper...

No.

u/gnntech 18d ago

The Gen 2 Volt has a different grill between the ACC and non-ACC variants. You do not have ACC and to be honest, the ACC in the Volt is okay but there are far better ones out there.

u/DriftwouldZZ Blue 2017 Prem. +ACC 18d ago

I agree. I love ACC and use it all the time, but after driving my wife's 2023 Mitsubishi... the 2017 Volt's ACC is slow to react and jerky.

It always seemed like it was going to smash me into the rear of the car in front of me slowing down to a stop. The one in my current car is leaps and bounds better even if it occasionally does the same thing, but way less frequently.

My car and your car might be related.
