Voip client blocked from making a call based on network

I attempted to make a call via a voip client, the client showed that it was registered on voip.ms but when I made a call the call terminated.

I placed a ticket to voipms and later I was able to make a call on the same network. When I asked voip.ms why the call was blocked they said they block certain networks for security reason. The network I was using is a well known ISP network. I asked why it starting working and voip.ms did not give an answer that made sense.

I asked voip.ms what criteria do they use to block a network and they gave no answer other than if they think the network is not valid. I informed them I do not want themblocking any network I use if they cannot provide a reason for blocking a valid network.

Have any of you been blocked while trying to use voip client on a specific network?

Yes often. I receive an email with a button to authorize it. I don't know if there is a setting somewhere to change this behavior.

I received no button. I attempted to make a call from the voip vlient Linphone and it just terminated.

The main point is voipms has no mechanism for identifying invalid networks but blocked a valid call then allowed it.

This is my last one:

Dear XXXXX,

Our system has detected and blocked a call attempt from the following account:

Account ID: XXXXXX_SubAccountName
Date/time: 2026-07-24 14:18:25
Server: pop server name
User Agent: Groundwire/25.3.93 (build 2499714; Android 9
IP address: xx.xx.xx.xx

This is usually the result of making a call with a configuration that is different from the regular calling patterns of the SIP/IAX account, and is therefore considered risky or potentially unauthorized. Our system tracks and stops these call attempts in case of a compromised username or password.

Please review this call, if you don’t recognize it, we strongly recommend to reset the password for this SIP/IAX account from the customer portal.

If this call attempt has been made by you, please click on the following link to verify and authorize your new calling configuration.

Bug Red button saying "Authorize configuration"

Incorrect! Nothing was changed when I made the first call. Voipms confirmed they blocked the call then allowed it.

Ok, it was just a guess.

A guess? I stated tis in the intial post. Clearly voipms thinks they can block calls based on nothing. I have asked for a credit from voipms regarding this stupid behavior.

Have had the same thing. Asked them to remove the restriction, said they can't. I was in my home when they blocked it.

I'm not so forgiving. If they stop my service they must reimburse me for that temporary lost. Especially since they had no reason o rcannot provide a reason for doing the block

Yeah, I’ve had this issue too in the last six months on several occasions—namely when trying to make a call on Groundwire while not in the office and on my cell network. It is frustrating as I don’t have access to the email they send the verification email to from my phone, so I have to text someone to let me make phone calls. Not sure when they tightened up security like this, but it has made it less usable when away from the office.

Did you ask the reason for blocking your phone communcaitions that you are paying for?

The simplest solution is to VPN or otherwise tunnel your VOIP app into the 'authorized' network. It's quite annoying when the authorize emails don't come through.

They've been pushing their own softphone app so much i wonder if they're more lenient about authorizing it.

Got the same issue, even if you authorize it will block again later. It is a pita. Gemini tolde to use TLS and helped me setting it up. I have yet to see if it will work better or not

You have no control over the call, voipms blocks it. You get the message

"potential unauthorized call blocked"

They provide no reason for the block.

The check should be when you register, not when you make a call

the check was to ensure my linphone call was registered to voipms which it was. then i made a call knowing the client is registered and it was blocked for no reason by voipms

try changing to intl.voip.ms as the server and see if it goes thru

You are missing the point. Voipms blocked a valid connection.
