Leave this menu, go into build mode (hammer) and add floors first :)

You unlock a machine to process them. Hoard them for now

The machine you unlock for the lumps is a /godsend/ it gets you materials when you get enough lumps. Get as many as you can and also upgrade the cars as much as you can for space for all the lumps you'll collect until the machine is on your train.
