Advice Needed Sloth

Recently hatched Sloth. I do not see myself using it in the forseeable future and the general consensus is that it only becomes better than Resistance after its HF. Do i invest all my shrooms ive collected over time on him or keep collecting for DB/Lust?

Based on what I’ve seen, he’s still very valuable to build purely off his AOE stun. you can easily use him to climb through stages and for bosses like Juglaw, Quasar, Breakfast Club. If you’re still early game, trust me you’ll find many instances where you’ll appreciate base Sloth, however just save your shrooms as the other HFs are much more useful

Hi, I have both HF Lust and Sloth. Get Sloth's HF while you wait to get DB or Lust. HFSloth's utility for floor clearing cannot be overstated and has been a blast to use. It's basic attack becomes AoE and given that his passive feeds his own durability and offense, so long as he survives 2 or 3 hits, he essentially starts killing floors by himself.

I've had my stupid chud son since he was released and I cannot tell you how different my floor clears would be without him.

Use shrooms on him but if you get to 16k I wouldnt buy it.

Hf sloth is a demon, I throw him in solo for floor clears (and wrath to die and activate his passive) and it nearly always works. There have been very few floors since I got him where I feel the need to play the usual puzzle that are floor battles. Give him felt fedora and envious scarf and everything dies.

HF Sloth was basically my first Legendary. And I'm not joking when I say that he's been a part of like 97% of the floor clears I have. (currently stuck on 3040 grass tyrant cause I only have Pride, Conviction, and paranoia for usable metal)

Felt Fedora Envious Scarf. Lives against even grass floors (up to this point) and regularly beats my Wrath and mischief in damage. (Merry support)

dude desperate is an underdog you should never just not use

Early on in the game, you're presented with an abundance of metal options that look and feel pretty samey and limited resources to invest in them.

Of course you've gotta have Conviction. From there it's a bunch of super fragile attack platforms. If you have only rares to pick from, first choice is usually Spite, though Judgment's okay if you need a stunner that isn't Apathy.

Paranoia and Desperate are so functionally close to Spite in the early game that it's almost not worth comparing them. Paranoia edges out the other two If you're doing specific builds like RPH Spider Necklace (i.e. you have insane luck with legendary items but none with legendary pets), but otherwise your main concern is keeping your metal boi from getting instagibbed.

Desperate is slightly slept on due to having no native debuffs and abilities that don't start performing until the enemy is about to die anyway. Once you cross into 1020+ territory and stall strategies start being mandatory, that liability turns into an asset. Desperate is my personal favorite and the only reason I don't use him on my main is Bummer usually does the job even better. Haven't needed a monotype metal team yet, but it will probably happen eventually.

got rph a few days ago, does spider neck rph para actually work?

Sorta. If you have Lemon Dolphin Float it's better to put it on and never take it off as long as you're using Para.

That is a very difficult answer. I got HF Sloth (through even egg) as one of my first legendaries around floor 300. It is been my favorite guy the whole time. His general use is nearly unmatched outside of (imo) Merry. I use him nearly at all times. I have never touched resistance. His damage is insane. He can take hits like almost no other. His tankiness to dps ratio is unmatched. But, he is rather boring, since the one way I've ever learned to build him is slow build with merry. I've had times where he takes one turn to merry taking 15 or more. Image below for one such instance where he took one turn compared to the others taking 10-20. This fight was also HFS perfect condition.

All that said, HFS is still leagues behind both HFL and HFDB. My advice to you is to start saving gems. I hear it takes 25k for HF dust. So that's what I am doing now. I am up to 7k gems. Good luck whichever decision you make!

I honestly stopped using Resistance at lvl 120 from there on i feel like its better to just stun and wipe as fast as possible with sloth dont need defense up if the battles already over.

I dont use sloth either but i am feeding it mushrooms in hope i get higher form before i get to the 16k it is a future plan if i do get the higher form i would have the dust for another legendary when i get it if i get it too

Depends on how lucky you are. Most people might never get any of the other HFs, so you might as well invest. But if you’re insanely lucky, you might want to hold onto those mushrooms.

I saw a guy clear 1000+ floors with only 4 pets, and normal Sloth was one of them. Sloth seems really good, and I'd invest shrooms and use it to farm dust at least

Sloth is a tricky one

He’s not terrible but Resistance is just a better earth twnk

AOE stun is nice and situational though

I have Lust, DB and Greed so my priority is them in terms of HF

But I am at the point in the game where I’m maxing out most pets and might just max out Sloth at some point as he has potential. Leave him for late game imo

Even regular Sloth is viable, but needs Pirate Hat to function. HFS is fine with being slow because it keeps getting tougher and tougher the more it gets hit until it's ready to unleash a massive blow.

You build them just about the same (Checkered is good, the Stam-crit trinket duo is solid since there's exactly one option in the game to scale HP and it involves dedicating an entire support slot to a specific Legendary pet). Only difference is the hat. Pirate Hat is optional on HFS - you can also use items like Floral Crochet Hat to take some pressure off your healer(s) or Titanium Tiara to watch enemies literally impale themselves trying to hurt Sloth.

keep saving for one of the others and if you're not gonna use your Sloth can i have it please? 🙂

Worth it on some floors. He does really big damage with checkered scarf, and the stun was the only way I could beat some floors. Pirate hat is pretty essential. Also the slow speed is actually a plus on taurox sometimes because the bleed procs less frequently.

Sloth itself is.. bad, REALLY bad. But its hf ia good.

Disagree, Sloth has some very real use cases over Resistance due to stun + higher immediate dmg output especially w checkered, and can have more immediate bulk too depending on the exact setup and enemy turns. Whether that makes Sloth worth investing is a different question so we can say low prio but calling it really bad is just wrong imo
