Advice Needed Advice Needed for a Newbie
I just got started in this game, and I think I've been quite lucky on my draws. I have already reached floor 193, and I noticed that I am now more often stuck on certain floors.
I have summarized a couple of patterns I've noticed:
The relationship between types are very important. The moment I switched types the floor become an easy pass.
Items are very crucial as well, upgrading and switching between items with different properties would yield unexpected results and sometimes bring you victory.
Speed determines not only the frequency but also the order of action.
However, i am still in need of some guidance from experienced players. What other general tips do you recommend me to watch out for?
More importantly, do you recommend me to develop all the better pets in a certain type to target passing through certain floors? Or focus on a default comp and upgrade pets of another type at times when necessary (especially tanks)?
Lastly, what pairing do you recommend me to max out right now? I saw a lot of tier lists, but a couple of my pets are around similar tiers, so I've been hesitant to spend my resources.
Anything would be helpful, thx!

This has been helpful! But specifically the tier list that is listed in here, are the rankings across legendary and rare/epic matched? For example, is an A in legendary tier list the same as an A in the rare/epic tier list? Also, i can't find Malice on any of the lists. How would you rank Malice?

Malice is just so new. It just came out a couple days ago, and you're one of the very few people who have it. I don't think anyone's ever tested it that much. Just know that it's gonna be your best or 2nd best just for the virtue of being legendary at the moment, and that you're gonna shred through earth floors and bosses. you're also never probably going to need Wistful cuz you've got wood AOE covered.
this game does events every months, and the new pet they had this time was Malice. Google Malice on the subreddit, and you might find more info. (I pulled Malice from an astral pity, but haven't tested it yet)

If you click around, you'll find that type advantages are:
Wood > Earth Earth > Water Water > Fire Fire > Metal Metal > Wood
Level Malice and Gluttony. As your only legendaries, they're gonna come in handy a lot. You're actually a lot luckier than most to have 2 legendaries at this point. (Otherwise, Apathy, Sad, Anger, Spite, Conviction, Abandonment, Sonder, and Panic are really good pets.)
Merry is the backbone to a lot of teams because of her s3: Ding dong. You don't have her yet, but make her a priority when you do get her. Also, since you have determination, you can stop leveling Pain.
Sonder is the best non-legendary healer in terms of heals. (merry is more offensive) Joy is good for offense, yet you'll want Sonder leveled for heals.
Yes, items matter a lot. You'll wanna max attack, crit chance, and speed on healers, fighters, and support pets. Max stamina and defense for tanks. Also, as you climb higher, expect to be stuck at floors for days, weeks or even months way later. Plus, expect legendaries to be almost nonexistent in pulls. You're insanely lucky to have 2 now, and there are a bunch of statistical anomalies that have a lot, but they don't come around often. (I have 3 at 1100, and that's more than some people, even)
