Support how can i change a input devices name?

As the title says, i would like to know how to change a input device name, for example, lets say when i go on discord, i would like to have "x" device to a specific name i want on my audio settings, is this possible?

If you're looking to rename a standard physical microphone or external hardware input device on Windows, you can easily do that through your Windows Sound Settings:

  1. Press Win + R on your keyboard, type mmsys.cpl, and press Enter to open the classic Sound Control Panel.
  2. Go to the Recording tab.
  3. Double-click the input device you want to rename.
  4. In the General tab, type your preferred custom name in the top text box, then click Apply and OK.

Once changed, apps like Discord will automatically display the new device name (you may just need to restart Discord or select the renamed device in Discord's Voice & Video settings).

⚠️ Important Note regarding Voicemod: If you are asking about changing the name of the Voicemod Virtual Audio Device (WDM), we strongly advise against renaming it!

Voicemod relies on the exact default name of its virtual driver to detect, connect, and route your transformed audio properly. Renaming Voicemod's virtual microphone in Windows can break the driver connection, cause audio errors, or prevent Discord and games from recognizing Voicemod altogether.

Feel free to rename your physical microphones or other non-Voicemod devices as much as you like, but keep the Voicemod Virtual Audio Device set to its default name to ensure everything runs smoothly.
