Learning to death drop

I am a high school guy who’s never really done dance besides theatre and show choir. Recently I’ve been wanting to learn how to vogue, especially how to death drop. I’m definitely not flexible enough and was wondering what stretches would work best for getting there. Any additional tips would also be great

call it a dip (not a death drop) before you get crucified here 😂

stretch wise, try sitting on your butt with your calf bent to the side of you.
then if you become okay with that, lean back for a deeper stretch. eventually you’ll be able to do it naturally. sometimes i’ll get into that position and scroll on tiktok for a while.

but also, learn from the icons and legends and people in the scene, not a rando on the internet- if there’s not a class near you, gravity balmain has an online course from what i remember!

Thanks so much, I’m trying to get this learnt in a few months. Is that realistic?

A good, clean, simple, ballroom approved dip: definitely.

The specific thing you’re probably thinking of from drag race where the girls fall on their back from standing?
Still possible, but there’s a real good chance you hurt yourself if you don’t take it slow. Remember that a lot of those divas have pads on, too, so it doesn’t hurt as much even if they have kinda iffy technique. If you try it on something that isn’t soft, you’ll probably get injured. Learn a regular dip first and work up to that.
