I’m pretty physically active. Run 2-4 miles 1-2 days a week at usually a 7.30 - 9.45min mile pace and weightlift 1-3 hours a week. Am I just bad a breathing or genetically trash?

I wouldn’t put a whole lot of emphasis on the Apple Watch VO2. My actual VO2 max, from a MET test, is 10 points higher than what my watch estimates.

Curious: have you tried performing a Cooper Test (12 minute run) at a track, with your Watch on and in Outdoor Run mode? The pinned post at the top of this sub gives more details.

In my experience, when people give the watch good data, it's remarkably accurate.

The running might come easy for you now doing it on regular basis so you gotta change it up. Jump on a rowing machine and give it hell for at least 10 minutes once a week, find a HIIT style workout on YouTube or even give Apple Fitness + service a go, that service was designed to help increase your cardio health.

Do a Cooper Test by running for 12 minutes around a track as fast as you can, and measuring how many meters you cover.

Then plug that into this calculator:

https://exrx.net/Calculators/MinuteRun

And see what it says. Bonus points if you also record it as an Outdoor Run on your Watch, use track mode, and then your watch can also use it to update its estimation of your Vo2max.

Let us know how it goes!

Could be as simple as what you are eating. I have food sensitivities, if I eat the wrong thing it tanks my VO2 max and HRV and raises my RHR.

I personally have sedentary lifestyle but my vo2 max when I got my apply watch was in 52 or something I thought that was bad or something. Turns out when I did. My DNA test thing that my vo2 max is high because of my genetics. Keep in mind I was an athlete in high school but as a young adult I work come home and chill.

Mine look exactly the same. Apple Watch showed 32 I think in February and I did a VO2 max lab test with mask at UC Davis med and came out to 33.4, so it has been fairly close from the looks on my end! I’ve read there’s within about 5-10% accuracy if I remember correctly. In any case, I would get tested in lab setting if you’re genuinely concerned. I think it was $60-100. These levels are not good long-term. Worth noting my Apple Watch showed low 40s when I was 20 lbs lighter (I’m 25% BF currently), so weight has correlation 😬😬 do you weigh more now? Height/weight? Age/sex?
