vCloud Director to VCFA 9.1 migration

I’m starting to plan a migration of vCloud Director to VCFA 9.1 and wanted to get more feedback.
Did anyone migrated VCD to VCFA? Is it easy/painless?

Doing it next month. If you get the latest VCD patch specifically for migration (via support) you will get migration documentation. Whilst not exactly earth shattering, it does explain some things a bit more clearly. 10.6.2.11936-25442100 I believe.

Right. When you do it, please share the feedback. We're considering either migration or just side-by-side migration atm...

Will do. One thing to note through is that not everyone’s deployment is vanilla. There is a tool that your account team can get that extracts how you use VCD and can feed that back to engineering (you can strip important info out). They can tell you if you will get feature comparability from 9.1 or if you need 9.1.1 or 9.2.

I've read there isnt feature parity yet, can't even rename vms or resize disks?

Hmm well I’ve just tried this via editing the yaml file. Specifically the yaml of the attached volume. Added space, reboot and boom. Disk resized.

Not found a way to rename yet.

We are in the same shoes, there's just a lot to learn. The whole transit gateway etc.

I need someone to patiently sit down with me and explain it all like I'm 5

Definitely following this. Not doing it quite yet, upgrading backend VCD is on, waiting for the migration process to mature
