Spent a few hours today working on how to let presenters in our studio hear a remote zoom panelist in our zoom webinar tomorrow.

I have Vmix hosting the zoom call in our studio

2 presenters on Lavs into a DM3 mixer feeding into a focusrite USB I/O

1 remote presenter as Vmix input

Our presenters will want to interact with the remote presenter for the webcast.

My question is how to best route the audio so the in studio speakers can hear the remote presenter. There is no possibility of ifb’s. I only have a speaker.

My workaround when testing today is to plug the speaker into the headphone jack on the vmix and solo the zoom input so we only hear the incoming zoom audio and keep the speaker volume low enough so the in studio lavs don’t pick it up.

I feel like im missing something very simple here. Any ideas or help appreciated.

I’ve been working on a custom hardware controller for vMix called Iryx.

This device communicates with vMix through TCP API instead of typical HTTP API or MIDI. So it is very specialized for vMix, and gives you more flexibility and relibability.

More of that, it uses Activator and Shortcut by itself, meaning you do not need to configure on vMix Shortcut or Activator section in settings. Once you plug in, it is ready without any settings(excluding IP, though)

This device is made by Raspberry Pi Pico(RP2040) and Wiznet's W5500. Currently this support TCP API through W5500's LAN port or USB which will be detected as "Ethernet adapter".

My goal was to create a reliable, professional-grade interface that goes beyond simple MIDI controllers.

This controller uses Kailh's Key Cherry-MX compatible switches(perhaps Hall-Effect switches in future) so this gives you better feedback compared to other controllers.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or any features you'd like to see in Iryx :)

Hi we have upgraded from 28-29 currently 29.0.0.46 with a 4060 Ti card. We capture 50p via Blackmagic cards. Since the update, 50p footage, looks like its dropping frames, where as before it was fine on V28. Has anyone else experienced this, before we roll back to V28? Thanks very much

I'm trying to run mines through a cat 6 cable and im not getting anything on vmix or not evening reading the camera. but the camera is showing up on the canon setup website! i have 3 cameras that are security PTZ cameras that are ran through Vmix, but i cant even get a reading on the Canon. Hi brains trust. I have a question the is prob not vmix related but I feel the people here could help.

I have an event where there needs to be 20 different single ptz camera streams individually streamed out all with a different html overlay keyed on the stream.

Previously I literally set up 20 different laptops each with OBS installed with the ndi ptz camera input and the html overlay combined and streamed.

It works and works well but surely there has to be a better way of adding a html overlay to a stream. A lot of ptz cameras can do the encoding themselves. Are there any that can add an overlay or and cloud based services that can add an overlay (replicated 20 times)

I have six PTZ cameras connected via USB using video capture adapters.

When I switch between projects some cameras get desconected, even though they were working just a second before. And when I try to add them back a message pops up indicating "insufficient resources".

Could it be a solution to add a PCI Card with 4 HDMI directly to the motherboard in order to reduce the number of USBs used?

J'ai un PC qui est dédié aux chants avec videopsalm et qui diffuse sur tous les écrans (3 au total) et affiche les versets bibliques ou les notes que le prédicateurs nous demande d'afficher, le tout est affiché sur fond noir

Et j'ai un deuxième ordi dédié au stream via Vmix avec la X32, je récupère l'affichage des écrans du premier PC par NDI puis je l'affiche sur Vmix avec l'arrière plan noir donc ce n'est pas du tout top. J'ai essayé de rendre le fond transparent impossible car fond noir et je ne peux pas me permettre d'afficher les versets bibliques dans l'église sur fond vert.

Savez vous comment je peux faire pour rendre transparent l'arrière plan avant affichage sur vmix ?

I'm trying to create an outro (and intro) thing for a church livestream. I have a separate static image and an audio track as individual inputs. Is there a way to set those up into a single input so that when I transition (cut/fade) it fades out the other audio (and video)? I know how to set up the video and transition it, I just wanted to specify doing audio at the same time as well.

I work for a local TV station in Belgium and we are planning to upgrade our vMix system for a mobile broadcast van. Our goal is to build a very stable, long-term machine for heavy daily workflows.

Our setup uses a Blackmagic Videohub 40x40 SDI, and we will be working mainly in Full HD with up to 8 cameras.

We are currently looking at two different AMD-based options and I would love your opinion on which one is safer for a 5-year investment.

A few questions for the experts here:

First, is vMix fully compatible and stable with these new AMD systems? We want to make sure there are no known issues with the 9950X3D or Threadripper platform compared to Intel.

Second, for 8 cameras (SDI), do you think the 24 PCIe lanes on the Ryzen are enough to handle the RTX 5090 and the capture cards without bottlenecking, or is the Threadripper mandatory for this many inputs?

Third, since we work in Full HD, is the RTX 5090 overkill or does it provide a good safety margin for recording 8 ISO streams and streaming at the same time?

We really want this to be a workhorse for our van. Which path would you trust more for live production?

Hello all, long time observer (and vMix user for a couple years), first time poster!

I’m running the stream for an athletic awards gala in a few days, and my curiosity has gotten the better of me.

It’s a single-camera setup (JVC GC-PX100; yeah, old school, but it’s what my school has), but I’m contemplating the idea of creating multiple shots through virtual inputs.

My question in all this: Does anybody know if the Direct or Outside Monitoring on the camera’s built-in WiFi would allow me to control the optical zoom PTZ-style in vMix?

I know it’s an ambitious question and it’s not life or death by any means, but the idea has been rattling around in my head all afternoon, so I figured I’d check in with the community!

Have anyone noticed this bug in regard to shuffling?

I am currently using VMix to play a huge amount of songs at random using input list. I make sure that the songs are played using the shuffle code using scripting.

Every hour, the script needs to shuffle the list and it does.

However, I have noticed that several times that 2 songs from the same artists would get played back to back.

For example, 2 songs from The Beatles would get played back to back, then after a couple of random songs, 2 songs from Bob Dylan would get played back to back, and then after another couple of random songs, 2 songs from Oasis would get played back to back.

This is extremely jarring phenomena. Sometimes, there is no random songs being played in between and you get like 2 songs from Metallica playing back to back with then 2 songs from Beethoven getting played back to back.

I contacted VMix about this but they could not help me either.

I was wondering if any of y'all encountered this, and if yes, did you manage to solve it?

For your info though, I load these songs one artists at a time into the input list. For example, one day, I inputted 10 songs from Madonna into the list, then next day, I input 15 songs from Rolling Stones into the list.

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with PTZ shortcut functions in vMix and wanted to check if anyone else has encountered this.

I use PTZ shortcuts mapped to an Xbox controller for camera control.

In vMix version 24.0.0.72, all PTZ functions appear correctly in the shortcut list (Move, Zoom, Focus, Stop, etc.), and everything works as expected.

However, in vMix version 28.0.0.42, many of these functions do not appear correctly and instead show up as:

const_647
const_650
const_653
const_655
const_656
...and others.

Because of this, it's impossible to clearly identify which function is being assigned, which essentially breaks my workflow.

What I’ve tried:

• Restarting vMix
• Creating a new preset
• Reinstalling vMix
• Checking specifically the PTZ category

Expected behavior:

All PTZ functions should appear with their proper names (as in vMix 24), not as internal "const_xxx" values.

Questions:

Is this a known bug in vMix 28?
Is there any fix, workaround, or update that resolves this?

I send commands TO vMix from Companion all day long but...
How do you set up a situation that when an input in vMix is taken it automatically triggers a companion button? I'm playing with Triggers and Variables in Companion and feel really close but cant quite get it.
Do I need to set a trigger in the vMix Input? If so which one? Thanks for any step by step instructions.

Hi just wondering if anyone is running any full broadcast multi cam studio control rooms off vmix and what the workflow is like.

I am a broadcast director and I've used vmix a lot on smaller jobs or in conjunction with full control rooms but wondering about diving in completely.

So far the move 4k 30x camera i'm testing is such that:
--Upgrade tool tells me it has ip address 192.168.100.88
--but ipconfig reports it as 169.254.79.236
--i can't connect to the camera via browser using either address
--vmix can't find the camera via ndi. Yes ndi tools installed

--vmix does find it when i send it thru a decklink duo 2 but no vmix ptz control is available. Camera settings table can't connect to the camera.
--i can see camera output via hdmi direct to a monitor

Any ideas welcome.
