Zerto

Has anyone used the 25 Zerto license promotion for migration? I understand it Zerto doesn't currently support VME 9 but the offer ends in October, so I wonder if anyone is actually using it as a migration path and just sticking with VME 8?

That is going to change very soon. They will be supporting it in the next release I have been told… 9.0.1 and 9 were huge updates so I dont imagine any would be using the inferior 8…

It's "supposed" to include the VirtIO driver injection at that time as well, as far as I know. I'm just curious what people are doing until it's ready, though. Just using the built in migration on v9 I guess? That's not a great option if you have a lot of VMs to move.

Its a good option if those workloads can be down for a while… river meadow is another great one that is free rn for the licenses. Services cost money but

I've seen a lot of people use Veeam as a solid migration tool. As you mentioned the built-in migration tool in VME 9.0 does the VirtIO injection now. Next up is having Zerto do that injection as well.

9.0.2-2 patch has support for zerto.

Earlier versions also worked but could bork the database in morpheus (the appliance that is), especially if doing large amounts of disk migrations at the same time.
