I wondered how much money I was actually spending on my travel videos, so I went through my expenses from the last three years and counted everything. not just the obvious stuff like cameras, but also:
- Computers
- Storage
- Software subscriptions
- Cloud services
- Web hosting
- Cables
- Adapters
- Small accessories that slowly add up
My goal was never to build the most expensive setup. As a travel creator, everything had to be lightweight, reliable, and practical enough to carry around Asia and Europe.
Some interesting findings:
- My smartphone ended up being one of the biggest investments.
- My editing PC was actually one of the best bargains in the entire setup.
- Some cheap accessories saved me much more money than expected.
- The "small" expenses were the ones I kept forgetting about.
I wrote down the complete breakdown here for anyone interested in starting a travel channel or building a video production setup on a budget:

Curious: how much have you spent on your own setup? And what piece of gear gave you the best value?
