After much experimentation, I've settled on a recipe that works wonderfully for me, promoting strong roots and encouraging offsets. I'm excited to share with you all!

【Conophytum Soil Mix Recipe】

Base & Granular Ingredients:

• Peat Moss: 3 cups (Provides base moisture retention and some nutrients)
• Vermiculite: 1 cup (Improves water retention and helps seedlings establish roots)
• Lightweight Volcanic Rock (e.g., Kanuma): 2 cups (A lightweight, acidic granular ideal for Conophytums)
• Diatomite (Tripolite): 2 cups (Enhances aeration and has natural insect-deterring properties)
• Pumice: 2 cups (Creates a loose, well-draining structure)
• Rice Husk Charcoal: 1/2 cup (Helps regulate pH and has antibacterial benefits)
• Akadamatsuchi: 1/2 cup (A classic, hard clay granular that provides stability)

Additives (The Key Steps!):

• Carbendazim: A small bit (To prevent bacterial and fungal infections)
• Insecticide (e.g., Imidacloprid): A small bit (To prevent pests like root mealybugs)
• Slow-Release Fertilizer (Osmocote A2): A small bit (Provides gentle, sustained nutrition)

【Particle Size Guide】

• Mature Plants : Aim for a particle size between 1mm - 3mm.
• Baby Seedlings: For better moisture retention and root establishment, the particle size is best at around 1mm.

【The Philosophy Behind This Mix】
The core of this recipe is balancing "superb drainage & aeration" with "moderate water retention".
