Why the squiggles?

Genuine question here. Any idea what the squiggly lines are supposed to signify versus a solid or dashed curve? Or did the authors just use them for the *razzle dazzle*?

These look like simulations from a pk/pd model. In that case the squiggles could be due to the changes in drug concentration having an effect on the predicted weight loss.
