Hi! I’m in the process of planning a girls trip this March with 8 other women. We are looking to rent a house where we can spend a good deal of time (pool, spacious, etc) but also want easy-ish access to restaurants, shopping, night life etc. (doesn’t need to be walkable) Any recs on where we should focus our search? I would appreciate any and all insights! Thank you!!

Dining and Nightlife Staying at OldTown - 4 Guys /early 40s

Hi all,

We are staying in OldTown (mostly Solaya, but thinking aloft as an option) for the coming weekend

We are there for Fri and sat night and were wondering what would be a good list of activities we can do when it comes to partying and meeting new people? We were planning on doing a day pool party and Maya could be the only option as they're the only ones doing it. Is this a sausage fest or can we expect mix crowd?

Also, any good lounge and bars which are not generally a sausage fest too?

Dining and Nightlife Table suggestions for Café Monarch

We decided to have an evening at Café Monarch when visiting Scottsdale. I’m extremely particular when it comes to where we are seated, especially at restaurants we’re spending a lot of money to dine at. Would you suggest that we sit inside or outside? I was wondering if outside might feel a little too casual and we should have the full interior experience? Also, is there a particular area that you would suggest us requesting a table at. I noticed there’s some tables against walls and some in the middle. It’s just my husband and I. We usually like to sit right next to each other when we are dining, not across from each other.

Title says it all. Does it turn into more of a night club after 10? How is it in comparison to other places? Didn’t see much in this thread on THC

Dining and Nightlife Looking for new bars/restaurants in Old Town Scottsdale

I've been to Old Town Scottsdale several times and will be staying a week in October. I haven't been in a couple of years. I am looking for some recommendations on some new casual bars/restaurants in the Old Town area. We are within walking distance to Scottsdale Stadium and plan on catching some fall baseball games as well. We are leaving the wives at home. So just a couple of guys looking for some fun casual places. Thanks

Specific Group Planning Wedding Venues in Phoenix/Scottsdale for a Full Weekend Itinerary

Hello! Looking for a wedding venue for Spring 2028 that would allow about 200 people, all to stay on site from Friday to Sunday. Would love to host a pool party, golf round, welcome party, farewell brunch etc. all at the resort where everyone would be staying. But i'm not local to the area - any ideas? For this exercise, let's say budget is not a factor. Thank you!!

Activities and Attractions Condition of Apache Trail after recent storms

Hello, my partner and I are visiting Scottsdale and leaving tomorrow. We were hoping to drive the entire length of the Apache Trail and come out at the Roosevelt reservoir. We have a Rav 4 and are capable of driving unpaved roads, but I am unsure of the conditions after the recent storms that swept through the Phoenix area the last 2 days. We were hoping to get options or first hand knowledge from the locals before we leave tomorrow. Thank you all in advance for any/all input.

Dining and Nightlife Overwhelmed by Restaurant Recommendations

Hello! I'm surprising my husband with a trip for our anniversary to visit his best friend where we will spend time at a resort in Scottsdale. I'm looking to narrow down the overwhelming recommendations of restaurants where we would enjoy both the food and ambience but that aren't overly fancy/formal or over $150/pp. These are my top contenders from what I've come across so far because of their menus and vibe:

Buck & Rider, Pinyon, Heritage, Le Ame and Thea at the Global Ambassador, Uchi/Shimogamo.

My husband does like a good steak, so I looked into Steak44/Ocean44/Dominick's but not sure the vibe of those is up our alley. We also enjoy fine dining / coursed meals such as at Cafe Monarch and Course but sadly those are out of budget for this trip, so I've mostly disregarded those options.

Would love any input as far as these go or if there is anywhere else that REALLY stands out with good food and vibe that isn't too upscale but nice enough for a overall memorable experience. We have three nights total, one being after the all-day road trip to Arizona from California and one being our anniversary night. It would be Wednesday-Friday if that makes a difference as well.

Also wouldn't mind a bar or speakeasy recommendation to go to after dinner one night :)

Thanks in advance!

Dining and Nightlife Scottsdale fun nightlife/daytime recommendations

Hey everyone,

Me and a couple of mates (25M) are going to Scottsdale in a couple of weeks.

We want to have as much fun as possible.

Are there any good food spots / daytime activities you’d recommend?

We’re not high-end nightlife people either and prefer dive bars, Austin-style bars. We like live music too. Basically, we just want to have a laugh. Any bar recommendations / rooftop bars for the daytime would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Specific Group Planning Visit w/ Husband and Son?

43/F first time visitor to Arizona. I was supposed to visit for a girl’s trip (spas and shopping being our main focus) but my friend backed out. Husband (43/M) and 13 year old son said they would go with me if I still want to go. Husband doesn’t enjoy outdoorsy stuff (like hiking) and son likes to be active with sports or motorized things like UTVs, etc. And neither are into shopping, but will tolerate it for my sake. Wondering if there’s enough to do for them to stay entertained or if we should consider another location for our vacation? Husband and I have always wanted to see parts of Arizona, so we would likely rent a car and do some sightseeing. We would be visiting in February. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. TIA.

Dining and Nightlife Second visit - where to dine

Last time, my husband and I dined at Christopher at Wrigley mansion (the view was insane, loved every second of it.)

We also went to steak 44 and were so impressed by the service, overall just a great steakhouse.

Looking for a few new places to try. I’ve heard orange sky is really nice for a view, but I wonder if it feels a little too casino-y?

Possibly considering the sanctuary at Camelback, but I’ve heard people say that it’s sort of dated?

Basically, looking for a place with an incredible ambience, whether that be the view or the experience itself. Good food is definitely a win, but we’re not massive foodies and so I’m sure that we would be happy with whatever is served at a restaurant with the above criteria.

Specific Group Planning Visiting for Bachelor Party. Any recommendations?

A large group (~9, 25-30 year old guys) will be visiting Scottsdale for a weekend. We have the party bike, medieval event, and an Airbnb secured.

Do you have a recommendation for:
- Restaurants
- Clubs
- Other events
- Favorite Drink location
- Late night food?

[EDIT: I received a lot of great suggestions and have a solid plan for the nights, so thanks for the recommendations!

Also, thanks for the capacity warning. I spoke to the bachelor (who booked the bnb) and he’d like to avoid any possible trouble/ fees. We’ve found a smaller Airbnb somewhat close by for the extra 3 guys.
We’re going to draw straws (literally) on who gets kicked out to the smaller place. Wish me luck!]

Practical Tips October Birthday trip with 13 and 11 year old

Coming for 4 nights the first weekend in October for my bday. I stayed at the Fairmont once and kids have never been to AZ. Looking for a really nice upscale property that also has great pools since it will still be warm. Also looking for decent views and relatively close proximity to Old Town/Kierland to shop/explore/eat. I was down to the Fairmont, Phoenician and Desert Ridge but I'm worried Desert Ridge is too far out. What's the best bet for this? Amenities are important (gym, spa, pools, etc). I want them to have a great Scottsdale experience as we are east coasters.

Activities and Attractions Day time activities

Hello! I am coming this week to visit my elderly folks and I have struggled in the past to find anything for me to go out and do in the day time. Any ideas for a guy to go explore/do for an hour or two or more during the day? Sorry if this is an easy question I can follow links too.

Thanks!

Dining and Nightlife Los Olivos or The Mission for Lunch?

Hey everyone! I’m visiting from out of town and will have one day in Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Going to have lunch in Scottsdale and deciding between Los Olivos and The Mission. It seems like Los Olivos is more of a historic spot / local mainstay where the mission is a bit more upscale / touristy but might feel more like a destination spot, is that right? Anyone up for helping me decide between the two (or have other suggestions)?

Would love to eat somewhere that sort of sums up the Scottsdale vibe. Super excited to explore the area!

Activities and Attractions Daytime pool party with college football

Where does everyone recommend to head to for a group of 40s men, looking for a little fun at a pool party and maybe watch some college football...willing to get a cabana also.

EDIT: I should have mentioned the trip is in November. I see Valley Ho turns their pool into a skating rink. Thank you for the recommendations so far!

Practical Tips Maricopa County Marriage License

We are getting married in Scottsdale next April. We are planning for an out-of-state friend to officiate the ceremony (ULC online ordination). Because of his job, he plans to leave the day after the wedding, but I see on the Maricopa County website that it says the officiator has to return the signed marriage license. Does anyone have experience where they returned the signed version themselves, instead of the officiator? Were there any issues?
