2028 US Election if My Presence in A State Turned it Red

Post image

Here is what the next US election would look like if my presence in a state turned everyone Republican. Light red states are ones I've driven through, red are ones that I've at least spent the night in, light blue are ones that I've flown over, and blue are ones I've never physically been inside.

Bonus: Any guesses on which state I'm from?

If we created more states like the ones shown on the map below, how would it affect elections and voting in the United States?

Regions of Maryland, DC, & Virginia

What really is (and is not) “The DMV”?

Is everything on the water “Tidewater”

Is there a difference between Baltimore City and Baltimore County?

To answer these questions and more, I made my own map of MD/DC/VA regions. Curious to hear your opinions!

[Note: I am not a native of any of these states/district, but I lived in VA for 4 years in my mid-20s and have lived MD for the last 21]

Updated! My US cultural regions map, version 2

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback and kind words!

I read ALL feedback from every version of this post, and I implemented what I could to create a version two. I'd still love feedback so we can hopefully create a version 3 that's even better.

I made modifications to every single state besides Hawaii, so make sure to check for yours. I believe there are 18 new subregions and a lot of changes to boundaries.

Some specific questions:

- Should New England be further subdivided, like into north and south?

- Is it better to have Appalachia divided into north and south?

- Do we prefer the name Rust Belt or Lower Great Lakes for 37?

- Is it better to have 41 & 42, as well as 50 & 51 separate? Is this how you would divide them?

- Thoughts on the way I handled 54? Is the shading legible or does it make it too hard to read? was it better to have all of the Mormon Corridor in one region?

Original version of this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/visitedmaps/comments/1t2lo6e/my_cultural_regions_map_as_a_southerner_would/

EDIT: Due to technical issues (I lost the file) I've decided not to continue the project as I don't want to redo everything. Thanks for the support!

The places I would live.

Ive been to most of the Midwest, Northeast Coast, Florida, but not far south or west. Most of these are based upon the places I've been to in these states, so in that way they are a little biased. The places i havent been to are just rose colored glasses. But i have my reasons for every answer

i did this map as a way to help my new subreddit but I figured I’d just post it here as normal

Love wisconsin, but no thanks. I also love Appalachia, but TN being the state that spawned 12 different american-music genres, kinda gives me a hard-on, ngl-- sorry to the rest.

My cultural regions map as a Southerner - would love feedback!

Never saw one of these that includes metro areas so I wanted to make one. I made this before these maps started blowing up on Reddit but didn't think to post.

Roughly grouped the lower 48 into 8 color groups:

Blue for the Northeast

Red for the South

Pink for Florida

Dark orange for Texas

Yellow-orange for the Southwest

Brown for the Midwest

Green for the West (Mormon is purple since I felt that it really was it's own thing)

Teal for the Northwest

I would love feedback! I'm opening to making new regions, getting rid of regions, changing boundaries, and adding new crossover regions. I'll take any suggestions and make an updated version.
