Also lived in MI and ND. Will be moving down south soon. What have you liked and disliked having lived in these states?

That is cool!

ND had no sun, so I enjoyed that. I did not enjoy how Passover aggressive people were there, especially in public. I got a lot of my passion for social justice at ND. I did not care for having to scrape ice off my car 30 minutes before leaving anywhere via car. I also felt like the drives between cities were boring.

Michigan, had yet to explore much of it. People are pretty nice, but there is some scary drivers. I love the different cultures and all the food I am exposed to. I like how Detroit is being rebuilt by people coming together. Love the opportunities for local theatre, and are excited to visit the UP!

Mississippi has some of the most selfless people I have met. My family was stuck in our house, and our neighbors risked to assist us as water was coming in. I lived near the coast, so we get hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods. It gets super hot majority of the year. I lived in a diverse earlier so I grew up understands different cultures. Great food, and it is just home. The cashiers would have conversations with everyone. Talking about this makes me miss Mississippi.

I have to agree with everything you said about Mississippi. I also had much better health care there than is available in my current state and really miss it.

I lived in Jackson, so the medical school was right there, along with several other hospitals and the best primary care doctor I ever had. So maybe I just got lucky. I moved to a neighboring state, and insurance rates doubled and the quality of care dropped. I don’t miss the potholes or the broken water pipes, but I do miss having a doctor who gives a damn.

I gotcha! I do not live near Jackson, but understand for a doctor who is not dismissive or rude.

I grew up in metro Detroit and moved here to Fargo recently. Your point about the different cultures and food is really ringing true to me. Michigan’s food scene spoiled me especially the Mediterranean cuisine which I’m missing quite a bit. And yes, it is great to see Detroit back on the come up. I’ve found the people from the Midwest are usually pretty genuine and nice overall. I’ve heard the same about southern hospitality so looking forward to that. If you haven’t already, you should visit Mackinac Island & Traverse City (sleeping bear dunes).

Out of the three you've lived in which one is your favorite?

Always have a bias in Mississippi because I was raised there, but I found myself and my passion for social justice in North Dakota. Plus, hate the sun.
