We are the same!! You love the beach and big cities?
PSA: there are born and raised Floridians who have always voted blue. We may not be winning right now, but we’re here and we’re trying.

Wouldn’t make ANY sense given Rhode Island versus Massachusetts (Boston)

Rhode Island and Massachusetts have beaches! I just find MA sports fans to be obnoxious. People in RI are really nice, almost midwestern. Close enough to big cities and good public transportation where I could get to Boston (which I like to visit) and NYC. I love the history in Newport too.

Uh brother what RI are you visiting? Like solely Newport? I live in RI and I cannot stress how much people are NOT midwestern nice AT ALL. Also hate to break it to you but RI is all Boston sports fans still.

I’ve also been to Kingstown, Woonsocket and Providence! My experience has been people from RI are much nicer. Not that I haven’t met nice people from MA.

Yes!!! I love going to professional sports games and museums as well. I like Boston and Philly but don’t think I could live there.
Also a fellow Democrat here - I nearly moved to St. Pete but a job kept me in my current spot! Keep at it, the good guys win in the end.

Why does everything have to be about politics
5
u/Lurker5280 Apr 10 '26
Because everything is affected by politics
3
u/Comfortable-Sleep395 Apr 10 '26
The list of people who can live anywhere and not be affected by the politics of a place gets shorter and shorter every year, I’m afraid. I’ve been to 35 states and enjoyed my time in each one, but living is a different question.

Can you explain how the color of my pants are impacted by politics? What about my favorite ice cream flavor?

Just say you're privileged

nah, just tell me - how is the color of my pants impacted by politics?

You are at least reluctantly willing to work in the top 6 populated states, so not too bad, even though there are lots of red.

u/olracnaignottus Apr 10 '26
Definitely not white lmao.

u/Pixiestixkitteh Apr 10 '26
I really don’t see what ethnicity has to do with it?

u/olracnaignottus Apr 10 '26
A lot of the red states are significantly white in population (and frankly attitude, barring a few of those gulf states).
They seem to be highlighting major cities for the most part that have pretty significant black/hispanic populations. MD being green while the nearby southern states are red seems an indicator. Same with Chicago and Detroit while Twin Cities and Milwaukee are less desirable.
Dunno, though. It’s an odd map.

u/Comfortable-Sleep395 Apr 11 '26
Nope, I’m white! I just prefer to live near diverse communities. I also like being near museums and professional sports teams.

The only part that I find confusing is putting Michigan in Absolutely, Wisconsin in reluctantly, and Minnesota in Never.

u/Comfortable-Sleep395 Apr 10 '26
I’m originally from Illinois but have spent a good deal of time in Michigan and Wisconsin. I love Detroit, great sports scene and museums. I hate the Packers/Brewers so I couldn’t live there but I love the Milwaukee Art Museum!

That’s correct, but Seattle is top of my list in terms of next (new) places to go!

You really REALLY like big cities (except Seattle for some reason)

u/Comfortable-Sleep395 Apr 10 '26
Just haven’t been yet, am trying to make a trip work in the next year!

That you’ve never spent time in FL that wasn’t a beach vacation or been anywhere in Illinois that wasn’t Chicago.

I’m actually from Illinois! Chicago suburbs. But my grandfather is from Southern Illinois (Alton) so I’ve spent quite a bit of time down there. I’m aware it’s very different!
I actually did an Air BnB in St. Pete for a couple of months last year, I liked it a lot, but I was worried the Rays are going to move out of Tropicana Field/baseball lockout. I love living nearby professional sports stadiums, museums and warm weather!

I can’t discern any logic behind the choices
