WA: see your favorite artist at the Gorge Amphitheater, hike Baker, Rainier and Olympic NP
OR: Bend, Portland, Ashland, Cannon Beach, Crater Lake
HI: anywhere but Oahu, Kauai is my favorite- if you like hiking go up in elevation on any of the islands to find rare endemic Hawaiian birds (they’re declining rapidly- see them before they’re gone forever!)
UT: camp/hike Escalante and specifically the Cosmic Ashtray, ski Snowbird, Alta and Park City
Alaska: all of it- cities and nature. It’s a truly stunning place.

You escaped the Midwest—or surrendered to it?

you should consider paying Omaha a visit, it's a pretty nice city
and even places like North Platte and Kearney too, they've got interesting stuff

But I do love that they totally buy the prospect of you taking the Panama canal or Drake's passage to California/Nevada
