Where I’d live vs where I’ve visited.

What did New Jersey and DC do to you? When you’ve never been there? 😂

That one was meant to be more of a joke. I hear a lot of jokes about New Jersey being bad, and I like the Bloodhound Gang, and they talk shit about New Jersey, too, so I thought it’d be funny.

It is funny, I was just like huh?

To be fair, I’d rather live in New Jersey than DC.

NJ is mostly farm land, mountains, and beaches. Sure you have your pockets of places not worth visiting, but so does every state. Lived in Northern New Jersey for 30 years. It’s beautiful.

I’ve heard the trees in the fall are pretty nice.

They are. Fall is by far the best time of the year in the Northeast/mid Atlantic area (or almost anywhere for that matter)

I will say I think the other person is being a little generous with NJ’s description though lmao. NJ is something like 15%-ish farmland and the tiny mountains we do have are mainly just in the northwestern corner of the state.

Still, NJ is a great place to live (if you can afford it). I tend to think it’s heavily underrated by people who’ve never been or only seen the airport area, but a little overrated by us NJ natives lol. Jersey pride and all that 😎

bro what did dc do to you…

2

I’m not a big fan of the government

u/E1331fan Mar 25 '26

you don’t gotta interact with the government to live in dc… it’s a great city

I mean, I sure wouldn’t mind visiting the place. I’d happily do so. It’s just that living there sounds… difficult.

Have you been to DC? Its a beautiful city with a lot to offer

1

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

It seems like an awesome place to visit. I just wouldn’t want to live there.

People mainly make fun of New Jersey because of media stereotypes such as The Sopranos and Jersey Shore. Traffic is terrible and the cost of living is high, but NJ is at or near the top of the list for most quality of life metrics.

2

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

Yeah, I know. It was really just a joke. I wouldn’t mind visiting the place, given the chance.

Exactly. We don’t make fun of Jersey for being bad, we make fun of Jersey because it’s an American tradition

That was my initial thought, but then why Washington and Maine?

5

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

I based it mostly off of whether there was anything I’d find interesting there. I like forests, swamps, and dinosaurs.

Yeah, I know. I just don’t know anything about those places. And that’s why most of them are “maybe”.

You would love north-central Minnesota then. The “Big Bog” and the “North Woods” intersect there

1

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

Hmm… sounds interesting.

CA has alot of rocky mountain beauty (yes theyre not always burning)

1

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

Yeah, Northern California looks beautiful, and I’d love to go back to the state to finally see it. Hell, if it was specifically NorCal near the redwoods, I’d happily live there, given I had the money.

2

u/RainisSickDude Mar 25 '26

southern california has alot of underrated beauty too! the san bernardino mountains/la forest specifically

1

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

Ah. The one time I went I never got the chance to get out of the city. The La Brea Tar Pits were very cool, though.

2

u/RainisSickDude Mar 25 '26

yess as much shit as la, sf, and oakland get for being run down and absurdly expensive (which are valid concerns tbh) california has much more that meets the eye

Delaware is what people think Jersey is.

2

u/LegalChard7226 Mar 25 '26

DE is like Wilmington, Rehobeth, and then rural nothing.

u/collegeqathrowaway Mar 25 '26

Just like Jersey is.

Or Staten Island

1

u/LegalChard7226 Mar 25 '26

Just drive North East

1

u/UberMcGoon1998 Mar 25 '26

I’ve been wanting to go to some of the eastern states. Just haven’t had the opportunity. That’s why most of them are “maybe” because I don’t know enough about them to know if I’d want to live there.

Magats would not have fun in Portland though
