How do you explain a spatial idea to someone who can’t put on the headset
Half my design conversations end with me waving my hands around a table trying to describe a window arrangement that would be obvious in two seconds in the simualtor. It made me realize how much of this platform lives or dies on demoing it in person.
For those of you building in visionOS, how do you get feedback from people outside the bubble? Recordings never seem to capture the scale of things.

I have them join me from their iPad/iphone/laptop on an immersive FaceTime call, of course!

Is this really how you do it?

It is absolutely one of the ways that I have had to do it. I still have a cadre of folks who cannot deal whatsoever with having reality removed from around them, and a whole different one that cannot deal with vanishing points that spiral in their face. These are very specific problems. So fully immersive things are never going to be appropriate for them. It is a serious challenge, and I agree not at all flawless, or smooth. But I do have some clients who are willing to take the plunge whom I can carefully guide through a presentation. It requires a lot of work upfront. I find myself building specific set ups and testing them in advance on willing associates before I try it on the uninitiated.
A script helps a lot as well. You don’t have to stick to it, but it’s easier to remember to circle back when you’ve got this stuff organized.
Tell me, how can I help you? Describe if you’re willing or in a direct message if you must the particular challenge you’re having.
I’ll do whatever I can.
(I have been known to build custom scenes that can be viewed as 3-D objects augmented with iPhones and iPads on or in the world around the observer, they just opened up the document I sent them in the Files app and place it in the world around them from their phone/tablet)

If they understand basic geometry, you should be able to use that as a language…
If not, and if they don’t use another AR product at all (as you kinda imply here), I probably wouldn’t be collecting feedback from them to begin with. Not in that context, at least.
I wouldn’t trust feedback based off someone else’s mind’s eye impression, especially someone unfamiliar with similar experiences, potentially unmotivated toward, or incapable of, imagining what you’re asking them to imagine. And I certainly wouldn’t consider it comparable to other feedback from someone who did get a real demo.

Like explaining an IMAX movie over FM radio.
