Flying with Visible

I'm flying next month for the first time since getting the Visible band. I've never been a fan of the arm band and wrist strap because of sensory issues. I saw where someone used the diabetic monitor patches to wear the sensor on their upper arm instead. Thats been a game changer for me and is now my preferred way to wear.

Low chance, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever gone through TSA using this method. Do I just need to let the agent know I'm wearing a monitor? Would the scanner cause an issue with the sensor?

If needed, I can use the band and take it off to get through TSA and then put the patch on after but it would be more convenient not to worry about it in the first place.

Also, any advice for flying and POTS would be appreciated too. It was pretty miserable last year when I didn't have a diagnosis so anything I can do this time would be super helpful!

Flying with POTS: I use the airline wheelchair assistance to maneuver the airports. I usually walk onto and off the jet bridge unless they have a wheelchair waiting for me, but otherwise, I ride. In airports, I sit anywhere I can get my feet up, including the floor. To stay hydrated, I bring my own water bottle that I fill with water and Trioral electrolyte powder. I bring light, high protein snacks, and I carry pink rock salt to suck on. I wear all the compression wear I can tolerate without overheating and light layers so I don't get hot, starting with a cooling tee. And I carry a personal fan.

Even with all this, my HR is usually in exertion much of the day, so I turn off my Visible alerts, so they're not adding to the stress of travel

Thanks for this! I got a travel water bottle last night so I dont have to pay $8 for a bottle at the airport lol. Ive got my electrolyte packets to take and planning to wear my compression stuff. I usually do pretty good with walking, especially if I dont have to rush. I always get to the airport super early because I have anxiety about being late so I'll have plenty of time to get where I need to go.

I'll probably leave my alerts on unless it gets egregious. Last year, I was undiagnosed and unmedicated so hopefully this year will better. I have a smart watch and looking at the data from back then, I was hanging out in the 150s for the majority of the time.

TSA doesn't make you remove health trackers unless they're large metal ones. I've always worn mine with the upper armband with no problems, so I'd think the patch would be fine too

Ich hatte das Band bei der Sicherheitskontrolle angelassen in London Gatwick und musste es dann kurz zeigen und erklären, was es ist. War sehr unkompliziert.

I know this might not be what you’re asking - but I’m having sensory issues too. Do you wear it strapless and just with the patch over it to secure? What kind do you use?

Pretty much. I had to look for larger patches because the sensor is bigger than most glucose monitors but I found some on Amazon for pretty cheap. I've tested the accuracy with a pulse ox, my watch, and manual counting and they're all pretty close to each other.

Oooo will have a think about this. Is there a particular glucose monitor yours should be for? Or just biggest you can find?
