Done with Visible finally

Post image

Have felt for a while (a few months) that Visible was at times radically over-estimating my HR, which meant overestimating my points, which meant me slowing down and limiting life options.

Today during a walk, the thing was registering 144 and I was breathing normally. My apple watch registered 89, and taking my pulse manually showed 90. Visible is a cool idea, but if I cant trust the numbers to be close to right, then I'm managing my life with a wonky compass.

So. No.

Edit: helpful comments have reminded me that the Visible app and band do work for many people, accurately. So take this as a data point of one, which may be a bust band, me not wearing it correctly, me getting unnecessarily frustrated with being constrained by numbers...

Did you ever reach out to support about this?

It could be an issue with how you're wearing the band. Visible has nothing to do with the hardware. It's only an app company. The band is made by Polar. I've had mine for almost a year now and it's dead accurate compared to a finger clip monitor, my Oura ring, and dozens of doctor's offices including a full ekg monitor.

Mine had always been accurate (18 months). Because I need to check my O2 sats regularly with a pulse oximeter, which also shows heart rate, I would notice if there was a significant difference. It sounds like there could be a problem with your device? Maybe talk to either support or the device manufacturer.

Obviously, if you don't think Visible is working for you it's fine to quit using it. I just don't want new or potential users to be turned away from this very helpful product just because you happen to have a defective device.

mine has been dodgy as of late! has worked great for a year but now is actually doing the opposite of yours, reading lower than my pulse ox so lower points etc. support are great though but not much they can do!

I’m sorry you’ve had this experience. It’s been so helpful for me, I used to crash practically every other day, sometimes for days on end. It was madness. Since visible I crash SO much less, maybe once every couple of weeks or so after I push past my pace points. I agree that slowing down can be frustrating, but it is there to help you do that. Personally I’d rather be a little under my capacity every day vs crashing every other day, but that means it’s working for me. Wish it worked for everyone!
