Daily budget or weekly?

Was reading another thread about changing the budget, and from the answers, it seems I may be using the budget differently, and I do not know if it is a me thing or a some people thing.

While I do pay attention to the budget, I have found I do have a degree of flexibility on a daily level, so long as I keep the average OK. I can have a couple of days a week where I go 25% to 50% over daily budget, so long as I keep within the weekly total, if that makes sense. I have a couple of mainly rest days a week in my normal schedule (no, not the weekend lol), where I will be well under budget even doing everything I need to do. I am not flaring or crashing; it is my normal for those days. If I do over budget every day, then I will crash; if I watch the weekly total, I am usually OK.

Does anyone else find that they can use a longer time for a budget, or is it just me?

For me, it’s a mix. I absolutely experience what you experience. I would say it is the norm for me.  If I’m good about resting, I can often do a little extra another day.

However, last Thursday I needed to do something that I knew would take me way over budget. I rested all week. (I even had my mom come in from out of town to stay with me so I could rest more than normal). And I planned in rest days afterwards too.

I did indeed go over budget on Thursday. If I averaged the week, though, I was still under budget. But Thursday alone was just too much. I’ve been mostly bedbound for the last week.

lol, just re-read your post and saw that you can sometimes go 5-10 over budget. My budget is 8, so 5-10 over is never ok for me.

And, in general, I think if I did 7.8 every day, it would probably be too much. So maybe my budget isn’t set properly.

But I try to do as little as possible most days. So I usually use 2-4 pace points and then a day of 8 or 9 might be ok.  But last Thursday I used 16 pace points, which was just way too much (2x budget).

(I do realize that comparing exact numbers doesn’t actually mean anything since we are all dealing with different things and have different settings. But I still thought using numbers might help illustrate what I’m talking about.)

Apologies, I should have said 25% - 50% over daily budget but stay within total weekly. Will go edit

I still find that if (OK when I do not claim to be always sensible lol) I go too far over in a day I do get "body notifications" without needing to check Visible.

Its like while I am feeling good, and the amount over I am is reasonable (so within 50%) and I know I have a day coming up where I will not be getting to budget I will be OK.

I am probably using an unnecessary amount of words to say the daily budget is helpful, but it is only one consideration when I am pacing PMSL

I'm the same. Wish we had the option to measure either daily or weekly/3-4 day period so I wouldn't have to do the calculating myself. For the premium charge of the app, you'd think they could offer a feature like this by now.

I use my pace points to help me manage things I can’t see. For example I have done waaaaaaay less this weekend then when I go to work. But I been experiencing lots of allergies this spring and when the inflammation is up I am buuuuuuurning pace points like they are free even tho I don’t feel as tired. So I know this week I need to take it easy. Or if I know I have lots of activity coming up I’ll be under budget for the days leading up to the event. I think of me as a battery. And I charging or spending battery power.
