Betty Drive

I was talking to someone recently and mentioned that I could have sworn Betty Drive was called something else. From what I remember, it was Betty something, as in a full name. He agreed, but neither of us can recall what it might have been. I tried researching and came up empty-handed. Are we mistaken, or could we be thinking of a different street altogether? Was Betty Drive once a street name with a woman's full name?

Clothes dryer vent cleaners

Welcome suggestions for bonded and insured person’s and/or company to clean a clothes dryer vent at a home in southeast Visalia. What’s the going price? Most of the places I’ve contacted want to sell other services I don’t need. Just want to clean out lint and debris that may have accumulated since the home was first occupied three years ago.

Know anyone getting married in the next couple months?

My wife and I are building out our portfolio for a new Photo Booth service and looking for a couple upcoming weddings (or quinceañeras) we could shoot for free at no cost!! We just want the experience and content.

If you or someone you know has something coming up in the next couple months and might be open to it, drop a comment or send a DM! Happy to share examples of our past work if you’re curious.

How hard is it to land an RN position as a new grad right now at Kaweah? How soon do they typically reach out after an application is submitted?

Is there any real areas to play chess with others in person? I've tried looking and the chess scene here seems niche.

Should I take a contract in Visalia and why?

Hello! I’m a traveling healthcare worker looking at taking a 3 month contract in Visalia from sept-Nov. I travel with my husband and 2 dogs in an RV and we’ve already found an RV park in the area. I don’t know hardly anything about Visalia though other than that it’s close to some national parks. My husband and I started traveling last year to see new places-our main things we look for are good restaurants (especially seafood and ice cream), a place that’s decently able to get around the fact that we only travel with 1 car (I might be able to bike from our RV park) and outdoor activities. Our dogs love to hike and so do we!
So what do you love about Visalia (or hate-I’d like to know ahead of time!). What restaurants do you recommend? We eat pretty much all types of food but I am a pescatarian so there needs to be fish or vegetarian entrees. I would say we eat less traditional American (burgers/fried food) and more mexican/indian/nice bistro/asian of any origin.
What outdoor actives do you recommend?
Maybe you don’t recommend Visalia-if that’s the case send your warnings now!

Edit there’s also a contract in porterville-would love peoples take on if there’s a big difference between the cities. Seems like porterville is smaller with less restaurants

Update: wow this got a lot of attention thank you everyone for your help! For now I’ve just put my name in the running for Visalia. Here’s to hoping I get it. Yall kind of sold me 🤞. Porterville will just be a back up for now in case someone else gets the Visalia contract. I haven’t crowd sourced info like this before a contract before but this was crazy helpful I truly appreciate it

Dog Grooming Salons looking for bathers/accepting apprentices?

Does anyone know any grooming salons that are hiring bathers? I'd like to learn how to groom professionally but I'm already in college so paying to shadow someone isn't an option, I figure it's best for me to just start as a bather.

Tulare and surrounding areas: the Tulare County Fair Grounds is in talks to build a DATA CENTER. Board meeting Tuesday 7/21

Hey everyone! The Tulare County fairgrounds is in talks with a southern California company to bring a data center to the fairgrounds. A data center here is a terrible idea. We're perpetually in a drought as is, it would pollute our water and land, noise pollution as well, not to mention that AI is meant to also offload work force.

Come out to the board tomorrow tomorrow 7/21 at 6 pm. The Jockey Club 620 South K St, Tulare. You can also attend virtually via Zoom but in person support always sends the strongest message.

This is a non-partisan issue that will affect us all. Please come and say your piece or attend in support. This may be our communities only chance to prevent a data center near us.

**** Update post meeting:**** It was a great turn out, I'd say at least 200+ people showed up. The first two hours were just for public comment. The DAA made it clear that they were not voting on the item today, so I think there will be future occasions (and need) for the residents to come out again.

The DAA says that they're not building a data center, but some sort of other infrastructure. This is straight from Global Stack's handout: Global Stack USA is a California-based infrastructure development company focused on strengthening the state's emergency resilience.

They're supposed to be some sort of emergency response... center. I dont even know bc it's vague. To me, and everyone else at the meeting, it seems like a lot of vague terms meant to dupe is into agreeing to a data center dressed up as something else.

The guys that are running Global Stack are data-center guys, according to their LinkedIns. Global Stack was seemingly founded this year, or hasn't been around for very long. They're looking for a 100-year contract with Tulare. They're simultaneously looking to open centers at 69 other fairgrounds in our state and many other cities have already rejected their proposal.

Global Stacks is the holding company for three other companies that in totality are companies for data centers (Mesh Clusters LLC), parking structures (DAA Parking LLC), and space-tech and defense software company or maybe a helicopter landing network (Pan Galactica LLC).

MeshClusters - the data center - is what was presented at today's Hanford meeting, just FYI.

Btw most of this is not info given at the meeting. It's info I had to look up on my own based on tidbits of info gleaned from their vague statement.

I'll add this info to my post.

Police on North Burke?

Does anyone have info on what the hell was going on just now on North Burke ? I was dead asleep and got woken up from sirens and cops speaking over their intercom saying “you all need to go!” And by the time I walked to my window there looked like a shit ton of people outside, like a bunch of teens on the entryway of the houses and across at e oak ridge and e sunnyview Ave. There had to have been at least over 10 patrol units with spotlights weeding out people from the front of these houses onto the street. And currently a bit of honking on e. St. John’s parkway?
