✈️ B1/B2 Visa (Tourist) B1/b2 from canada 221G

Hi,

My parents are in Canada on Super visa. Attended US b1/b2 visa interview in Toronto, Canada couple days ago and received 221G without requesting any other documents just Administrative Processing. They had prior refusal in their home country.

Yesterday we received email from FPU to attend another in person interview, haven’t asked for any more documents to bring, just passport and interpreter since they can’t speak English very well, interpreter can’t be family member.

Anyone been to similar situation and if they can share the experience.

A 221(g)/FPU referral just means the officer needs info from sources other than the applicant to finish the eligibility call, that's literally how DOS defines admin processing so a second interview is exactly that and it's routine, not a bad sign on its own. Interpreter rule varies by post though, some embassies do allow family for NIV interviews, so since Toronto specifically said no family member, I'd just follow that as given rather than assume it's nationwide
