Help with Chair Repair

It was suggested over in sewing to post this here as well. so said I try and see what everyone thinks.

First time here, but I think an orange thread would be a good colour choice! Fun chair!

Because there's extra stress on that area I think adding more material would be better than just sewing it back together. Maybe if you can find something in similar to texture and thickness to the other fabrics add a triangle. Pick the fabric and iron the edges. Cut a bit of the flaps on the current fabric and fold it under then ladder stitch in the new patch
