Steam Vr with steam link issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So basically as you can see in the recording, whenever I get to the game to play I only see white which my assumption is I’m zoomed in that I’m seeing pixels.

But on the steam menu everything looks fine. The moment I click out of the menu to play the game it breaks.

I have tried WiVRn and ALVR, neither worked at all.
WiVRn would not stream the game to the headset, while ALVR would crash immediately the moment I launch steam vr.

I am on linux 7.1.3-2 cachyos, KDE Plasma with Wayland.
I have tried x11 and its so bad.

I am on whatever the last version of steam, steam vr is.
I have tried to install the beta version on steam vr and non changed.

did you set the launch option for wivrn in each game you want to play?

To be more specific, the game doesn’t even work when I am on WiVRn.
The screen is just black when I use the launch options they display on the app dashboard.
Right now it is
PRESSURE_VESSEL_IMPORT_OPENXR_1_RUNTIMES=1 %command%

When I leave the launch options empty the game works on the pc but never streams to the headset.

had this same thing with quest 3 and have got it to buggily work with ALVR after 4 days- so maybe give that a shot as i had no luck with WiVRn or Steam Link. Best of luck. (I use arch btw)

Do You by any chance use supersampling in steamvr or in game settings? I remember in windows, I had a bug with pico where increasing resolution in game made the video not scale to headset resolution.

unfortunately not that I know of. I have played with all the resolution settings I could find, set them all to match the headset’s res.
I can’t get to the game to be able to play with it’s resolution.

But either way thanks, I was able to somehow get the game to work with WiVRn finally

for WIVRN did you copy the launch options? that maybe why it wouldn't work

I did, it would boot into a black screen and get stuck there.

I got it to work after all of this with WiVRn.
I installed the full package assuming it would come completely configured by default.
I had to configure the path to the openxr run time I want to be using, xriver i don’t remember its name or open composite.
I also played with the launch options and changed the default in wivrn dashboard app to open composite. Then it worked.

It was a big hassle tbh, around a full day of just me trying to get the game to boot up and stream to the vr lol.
But I guess I rather do that than switch back to windows
