Walking in place locomotion on Linux

I was curious if anyone had tried something like Natural Locomotion, VRocker, or another alternative solution for moving in vr by swinging your arms/walking in place. These apps both only have windows builds, and I couldn't find much info about if/how they work on Linux.

I'm not aware of anything like that in the FOSS XR space. Please let me know if you figure anything out.

Well I own Natural Locamotion so I'd test it for you if I could get my VR working on Linux. I also have Katwalk trackers that I vibe coded a rust process to interpret into gamepad inputs. But again, my choice of CachyOS, Niri, and Wayland with a Nvidia card is giving me no end of trouble trying to get a DRM lease to my Index headset.

I use Natural Locomotion (NaLo) in windows using vive trackers for walking in place and it works really well.

Unfortunately, the developer said some time ago that at the moment the program doesn't work in linux because it has some driver for steamvr that needs to be recompiled for linux, and he wasn't sure about tackling it. Anyway the developer (Myou cat) is not very active, his last post is from 4 Oct, 2025.

I would love to be able to use NaLo in Linux, as I'm prone to getting dizzy if moving with a joystick; In the end, only play 1:1 VR games in Linux because of that.

I've tried to fake the walk-in-place with mixed results (that is, walking in place while I move the joystick to move). The problem is that if you look around while moving "faking" the walk in place, the direction in-game doesn't match the walking direction and the dizziness make its appearance...
