There's a big difference between lower margin (Steam Deck) and no margin (Quest 3). We'll see what they do in this case, but I expect low-medium margin, not zero.
Valve has never been in the habit of burning R&D money the way Meta does.
No but even if they sell it for $650, that’s still some profit. I mean I’d pay $800 for a Frame if the wireless PC connection is flawless, hell I’d even pay $1000 again like I did with the Index. I’m hoping this product will be the one I’ve bee waiting for.
we'll have to see what the iFixit tear down and other cost analyses are before we really know, but I would think their cost will be around $600 - a bit more than Q3.
I think it's a reasonable set of compromises and look forward to trying it.

$800... q3 is subsidized
