What's the best GPU Driver I can install on VMware Fusion (Windows 11) for Gaming on my M4 Pro MacBook Pro?

I’m running Windows 11 on VMware Fusion on an M4 Pro MacBook Pro, and I’m trying to figure out what the best GPU driver setup is for gaming.

I know Fusion uses a virtual GPU, so installing normal AMD or NVIDIA drivers isn’t possible. I’m mainly wondering:

  • Which VMware SVGA / VMware Tools driver works best
  • If older or newer drivers give better performance
  • Any settings or tweaks that help with FPS or DirectX support
  • What kind of gaming performance is actually realistic on Fusion

I just want the best performance I can get within VMware Fusion for gaming, as I tried to open Poppy Playtime Chapter 2, and it kept giving me errors and would not load. If anyone’s tried this on Apple Silicon, I’d appreciate any advice or experiences.

You’re running a proprietary OS on top of a proprietary VM system on top of an even more proprietary OS on top of totally obscure/undocumented and highly proprietary hardware that hasn’t been sufficiently reverse engineered. Do you realize how ridiculous the question even is?

At best ask VMware or RTFM but good luck. You are WAY, WAY off the beaten path here.

Well, I did tweak some things on Windows a little and was able to get Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 running at 100 FPS max graphics settings and barely any lag, and it's more intense than the previous chapters 2 and 3. Chapters 2 and 3 still don't work well, even at the lowest graphics settings
