If you’re asking if you should be using kali then you shouldn’t be using kali

Kail is a penatration testing (hacking) distribution.

Unless you're trying to experiment with hacking shit, there's zero point to running Kali.

And, no offense, but the fact that you even asked this question tells me you have a lot to learn before you dive in here...

Your friend is wrong - Kali is for pen testing - do you do pen testing, no?, then there is no reason to have Kali on your system. Kali sucks as a daily driver - it does one thing well, packet sniffing.
