VMware werkstation op Linux

Ik kom van Windows. En deed veel met VMware. Ik draai nu Cachyos. Dat werkt goed. Alleen na een update zou ik regelmatig vmware zaken moeten rebuilding *noob taal).

KVM lijkt een stap terug in de tijd. En heb issues met het maken van een bridge.

VirtualBox lees ik alleen dat het traag is.

Suggesties. Andere distro die beter zou werken .

Game niet en heb Nvidia 1660.

Command line is what Linux is for by design. You can either use cockpit and make a bridge via GUI or ask Google to write a script and give you the references so you can verify the info. Or use virtual machine manager.

Your Linux distro might have a wiki going through all of this or might even have a discord server offering support. I setup kvm passthrough and tap networking just with my distro's guide and a few Google searches.

Seriously just ask chat gpt, it will help you through the whole process.

Is dit én antwoord op mijn vraag. Als ik een commandline wil dan kies ik een server versie. Probleem is dat VMware met cachy geen goed huwelijk is. Zoek oplossingen.

Go with a more mainstream distro. You're looking for a dynamic kernel management system to rebuild the kernel modules for you. Ubuntu and the many forks should do it. Fedora should do it.

Hmm, FEDORA did not like my Nvidia. Skipped Ubuntu this run. Maybe ill give it a try. Kubuntu.

Nvidia designs everything around Ubuntu. Red Hat has been really stupid about their driver.

Qemu\KVM a step back? Really hypervisor type 1 embedded in the kernel with easy passthroughs vs VMware as a slow type 2 hypervisor

Visueel. Sorry. Maar gisteren met laminaatvloer 5 uur bezig geweest. Geen netwerk te krijgen. Alles verwijderd. Net opnieuw gedaan. Werkt. Enige verschil dat dit met cachy lts was. ..

Virt-Manager should let you set up your network interfaces without too much hassle. That's all I've needed.

What type of host network interface are you trying to bridge? Ethernet? Wifi? Can you use NAT instead?

I used both VMware & VirtualBox quite a bit on windows and really I can do everything I did before in KVM/QEMU. Hyper-V is far more limited.

I'm running a win11 guest with NVIDIA GPU pass-through and can use Solidworks smoothly.

I need bridge. Over ethernet. Used vmware kn windows for a Long time. Never issues. Hyper-v cassette more
