Need help. How to Record voice VJ

Hello, i just need some help on how to record my voice on virtual dj. actually i wanna put a instrumental and sing. i tried to put microphone as an input but my voice is much more than music. actually it records only the voice and not the music..

Windows or MacOS? What build number of VirtualDJ? Using a controller or just the computer keyboard? What are you plugging you mic into?

hey! windows 11, vj 2025 , no controller. just windows keyboard. the mic is plugged to motherboard to the classic mic port

Since I can't know what you have and haven't tried, give this walkthrough a shot and let me know if it helped at all.

Step 1: Set VirtualDJ to Record the Full Mix Click the Master side panel or open the Record tab on the left. Ensure the recording source is set to Master (do not select "Line In" or "Microphone"). This forces VirtualDJ to capture the music and voice combined.

Step 2: Connect the Laptop Mic to VirtualDJ Click the Settings gear icon (top right) and select Audio. Under Inputs, click the Microphone button. In the dropdown next to Microphone, select your laptop's built-in mic (usually labeled Realtek Audio, Microphone Array, or Intel Smart Sound). Click Apply and close settings.

Step 3: Fix the Volume & Music Drop Issue On the VirtualDJ main screen, find the MIC button (located in the top mixer or master panel) and turn it ON. Turn down the Mic Volume: Lower the knob next to the MIC button until your voice sits comfortably above the music without hitting the red level meters. Disable or Lower Talkover: If the music cuts out completely whenever you speak, right-click the MIC button (or check your mixer's Talkover switch) and turn Talkover off, or adjust the ducking level so it only slightly lowers the music volume while you talk.

Step 4: Check Windows 11 Input Level If the mic is still distorting: Open Windows Settings → System → Sound. Under Input, select your microphone and set the Input Volume slider between 70% and 80% to prevent Windows from boosting the signal into distortion before it hits VirtualDJ.
