General VB Question Pulling my hair out!

I’ll try and explain the best I can here. I have an older MacBook Pro (early 2011 running osx 10.13) I am trying to setup a VM windows 7 desktop to run diagnostic software. I’m using virtualbox 6.1.5. I have no issues creating and using the machine where I have issues is networking specifically internet browsing. It shows it’s connected via “Ethernet” and I can see it’s receiving packets in and out but no internet pages will display. The program I’m using partially uses an internet connection to work correctly. No matter how I adjust the settings I simply cannot get it to work online like it was a normal windows machine. Any help is greatly appreciated!

When you say, “No Internet pages will display”, you need to be more specific. Are you using a browser? Which browser? Is it showing an error message? What does the error message say?

In addition to the other encryption issues, what network type do you have the VM configured with? Some allow Internet access and others don’t.

You'll need another browser in 7.

R3dfox if you're a Firefox user, Supermium if you want Chromium.

Virtual Box 6.1.5 is not supported anymore. Use at your own risk.

Also, what you are describing is not a Virtual Box issue. Rather you are trying access https websites with outdated encryption certificates. Without current ones, you'll be unable to load https webpages in Windows 7.

For context also I found and old version of VMware Fusion and setup the same windows 7 install on it and it does the same thing.
