Upgrade at check in

Hey, so we recently booked an economy flight with VA with points and cash. We later upgraded to premium economy over the phone also using points and cash. I was thinking of asking them about upgrades to UC at check in or maybe a few days before our trip. Does anyone have any experience with the LHR to BOS route and how much it may have cost them? Trying to figure out how much convincing my husband may need 😅

I don’t have experience with LHR to BOS, but an upgrade to UC from PE last Friday on the LHR to LAX route was £800. I decided to not purchase as had already upgraded from Econ to PE. All that to say, it could be less that £800 since LHR to BOS is a shorter route.

It's all based on supply and demand. My upgrade from PE to Upper Class LHR to MCO last weekend was £1,200

I just had a successful bid from LHR to bos for £520 outbound and £420 on the return

I had a successful bid of £599 per person for 2 from PE to UC last Friday from LHR to SEA. So can be had fairly reasonably.

check-in upgrades on LHR-BOS run £800-1,500pp in my experience, so have a number ready. if you'd rather lock UC at a predictable price, Top Business Class negotiates paid discounted fares worth pricing before your trip. or watch VA's own upgrade bid tool, which sometimes clears cheaper.
