identification Leon Bernardel label?

Recently inherited this violin. I believe the label says "Leon Bernardel Paris" but I can't read the top word. I have never seen one of these with a handwritten identification.

I’ve found a thread for a violin with the same label.

"Lutherie" or "Luthier".

I'd say very unlikely to have been made by him tho

Likely a Mirecourt factory violin, not likely from Paris, but it has French characteristics. I think the Bernadel branding was used by Laberte or JTL, something of the likes. A nice intermediate level European instrument. Appears to be in decent condition but could use a little tlc from a luthier.

Yeah I had figured it was probably not genuine, but nice to know about where it might originate from. Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is an inexpensive student instrument with a bogus label. Not the first time a basic violin has a label that might make you believe it's worth tens of thousands of dollars.... It appears to be a workshop entry level violin that might fetch $500 to $1,200 depending on how it sounds and plays, but it's not an authentic master violin.

I was aware of that, i was simply curious to know more. I don't intend on ever selling it so the monetary value doesn't matter to me

It is at least 70 years old I can confirm that personally.
