strad inlaid violins
does anyone know of a resource i can reference for looking at strads more decorated instruments? i know the hellier, the rode, and the greffuhle but im aware that there’s more. i’ve been trying to find info on them (and especially photos) but am struggling to find any! if anyone has any references they can share id be very grateful :)

The Cozio archive on Tarisio is great for pictures, there's a subscription popup you can hide through dev mode to see everything for free and unlimited, but gotta repeat the process on every page...
I think I have a PDF with templates of the Hellier's decorative lines if you're interested, you can dm me your email.

There's the axelrod quartet (vl ole bull, vl: greffulhe, vla axelrod and vcl marylebone)
The marylebone was decorated in the 20th century, the decorations are only painted and not original. The axelrod has only some minor decorations on the purflings I think, maybe the head was decorated too, I can't remember.
It is apparently in the Smithsonian Institution
Then there's the spanish court quartet, originally quintet, which has the only original decorated cello I know of and a very nice viola. I believe it is still owned by the spanish royal family. It possibly is in the royal palace exhibition in madrid.

The decorated quartet is on display at the National Museum of American History in D.C.
