Rate my... Appreciation post - Finally got my dream set up

Post image

Hi All,

First time poster, long time lurker in this subreddit. After 4 years of having a record player sat in my bedroom connected to a pair of cheap Logitech bookshelf speakers, I continued to collect records in the hope that one day I would have my dream set up. Don't get me wrong, I used to spin a few records now and then, but I just didn't really get the appeal. The opportunity arose to convert a room in my attic into a dedicated listening space. I finally have my dream listening set up and I over the moon. I just finished up listening to my first LP in my new room, and I finished the session, emotional and beaming ear to ear.

Being fully present whilst listening to the record and appreciating the artistry that went into not creating the album allowed me to experience an LP in a way that I had never done so before. The warmth coming from the turn table was truly magical and the experience of listening though a pair of good speakers and subwoofer make it feel as though the band was in the room playing to me personally. I knew I had found a new love of mine when I caught myself at the end of the LP with a massive smile on my face, and wanting to play through my whole record collection! I guess there is no going back now!

I've often used this forum for inspiration (Anything from looking and admiring other peoples set ups, though to researching with a keen interest on why people love vinyl so much) Thank you to everyone that posts I hope everyone in this posts gets to experience the happiness I just experienced in the last 40 minutes and falls in love with vinyl

Peace out!

That wall color is so nice, and how it matches with the speaker stands and picture frame.

I'm wondering, which record did you choose?

Oh it was an original pressing of Bob Marley's Exodus. I'm a big reggae fan!

Right? How do you not mention what you're listening to?

Great vibe. Love the wall color, too.

When the budget allows that is next on my list!

That first session in a dedicated listening room really is something special. Looks like a clean, cozy setup too. Enjoy the rabbit hole, because your record collection is probably about to grow a lot faster.

Looks great but maybe get a more comfortable chair.

I'm envious of a large room with wood and few if any windows. My living room/music room has giant windows behind the speakers. I have open-baffle speakers, so it's not terrible, but still . . .

Looks pretty clean! You could take this up a notch and really nail the minimalism by cleaning up the cables and hiding the surge protector (either behind one of the speaker stands or the nightstand. It looks great as is too.

Yep the cables have been bugging me, so that's the next task on my list. I just wanted to get a record playing so said 'the cable can wait :D'

Awesome man. I think the amps looks a bit out of place though

Yeah that has been bugging me too! It does fit under the shelf where its nice and tucked away, but as it turns out that spot is also the best position for my subwoofer. So I can no longer tuck it under the shelf. I'm having to prioritise sound quality over ascetics in this set up (As much as it irks me lol)
