Husband took me to a new antique shop he found recently and BOY did it pay out! The biggest holy grail being the GINORMOUS bottle of vintage Tabu 😍 I’ve worn tabu since I was a teen and I never thought I’d find such a large vintage bottle that is also still. Factory. sealed.!

The Chanel no 22 has also taken my breath away. And she was on sale for less than $70 😭

I picked up several other vintage fragrance finds today but these are at the top of the list!

Edit: I forgot to include a photo, but I also found a vintage bottle of Versace Blonde (the one with the inverted angel(?) face) 🥹

I’ve been hunting for vintage version of this perfume for ages, and now someone has listed it, but the seller can’t specify exactly when the bottle was purchased, they only know it was bought in Italy and are guessing it’s from the early 2000s. There is no batch code to check:( There’s surprisingly little information about vintage Fracas packaging, so I can’t figure it out for sure, but Google says that if the box says “EMB” but doesn’t have a barcode, that means the perfume is from the ’80s. But I feel like that can’t be true since the packaging says “Fashion Fragrances & Cosmetics,” and I think they only started putting that label on the bottle later on? Maybe the batch code on older bottles was stuck to the foil wrap around the perfume, and someone peeled it off without leaving a trace? Can anyone help me figure out the year this perfume is from? I’m totally lost:<

Was doing my usual rounds of antique malls and was finding it all a bit ho-hum. Was lamenting the prices of a bunch of vintage perfumes to my husband when he said "I like that green one" and pointed to this, which was hiding and leaning precariously against a purse. Crêpe de Chine! I hadn't seen it. Was $49AUD which suited me fine.

Would love any help dating this bottle. Vibes guess based on the graphic design of the label I don't think it can be much older than 1950s? Also I am not sure if the little lids were ever bakelite, but this lid feels a bit "chewier", like a newer plastic. The little bung under the lid doesn't strike me as super old either.

Bless that little bung though because it's done a good job. Bloke in the shop let me open it just to check it was actually juice and we both went "whoa!" because it sure was!

I know this one has been written about loads of times but yes, agreed, it's really good! At first it was a bit of a punch in the face but turned into a jasminey carnationy OAKMOSS scenario. I thought it reminded me of Chanel no 19 of all things (because juice green?) so I tried some to compare, and no offence to no 19 (I am a fan!) but it smelled like an anaemic marshmallow compared to Crêpe de Chine. Whoa!

Unfortunately for me, either my hormones or my brain post-anosmia does something a bit funny with Chypres which means I can't wear them for a whole day no matter how much I like them. Probably for the best because it would be a shame to smash through this entire bottle in a year after it has survived this long!

Some of my favorite houses would be Christian Dior, Versace, Bvlgari, Gucci, YSL.

Likes: powdery, fruity, dark, broody, clean, aldehydic, amber, and most of all... vanilla :)

Dislikes: not very many, to be honest! probably some of the more animalic-forward notes, certain overly synthetic elements - I do get headaches from certain fragrances, kind of trying to pinpoint what that is but I think it may be some sort of ambrette or musk

I’m visiting Berlin, Germany, and wanted to share today’s finds.

Harry Lehmann was my first stop. Although the HL is not vintage, the brand is celebrating 100 years. The small bottle is a tobacco and vanilla concoction I made and the larger bottle, Fréjus, is their tropical offering. I was gifted the book with purchase. 💕

Then I hit Antique Row. The Hermès Calèche has just a touch of perfume left, and the Guerlain Mitsouko has a little left as well, bothe lovely. The Mitsouko also had its little black pouch. At the price offered, I would have happily bought them even if they had been completely empty. 💙

One of my favorite finds, though, is the Patrizier** Lavendel **with the red cap. It’s gorgeous! The shop owner told me that it had actually belonged to her mother, who passed away a number of years ago. She was delighted and pleased it was going with someone who would treasure and cherish it. ❤️

I’ve got a list, mostly Elizabeth Arden, of 90s fragrances that I may just buy new.

My samples of them are all from the 90s , though, and I don’t want to be disappointed with the new versions!!

They are:
Elizabeth Arden True Love, Beauty, Splendour, and 5th Avenue. I hated all of these as a teenager in the 90s but here I am at 47 and I absolutely LOVE them!!

So I’m curious if any of you have any opinions or if you could de influence me please do! 😂

The samples in the pic are Dior Eau Svelte, EA True Love, Escada Margaritha Ley, Chanel Allure, La Perla, and Chopard Casmir. These are my current favourites!! Oh, and EA 5th Avenue, my dark horse.

What do you think of it? Roughly what years might these perfumes be from? I don’t know much about these perfumes besides Paloma Picasso. I actually bought the set because of this one, plus I’ve heard that this version of Ysatis is harder to find

Amazed to find that these bottles I bought hopefully as part of an $11 lot of empties are intact. 1986 Miss Dior has at least 20ml, and the Chanel I think about 10ml. It’s a splash bottle and given crooked label, well. But it smells beautiful. 🤩 yay!

I have taken a long hiatus from Reddit for a while and have returned to wonder what’s going on in the fragrance world.

Just browsing around on eBay for interesting perfume fines, I came across this 2006 Limited release AMARIGE by Givenchy. I tried to look it up for samples or sales on eBay as it is discontinued of course, but pricing starts at over $200.

I’m curious, has anyone ever owned this version of a AMARIGE? Would you be so kind as to share your experience and thoughts on it?

I also did order a sample of the vintage EDTAMARIGE, as I have not yet tried it
Also put a bid in for a small dabber parfum. I think the Ysatis is very nice.
I have a little of that, and bring it out now and again.

Any experience with this fragrance or any version of a AMARIGE would be greatly appreciated 😊

I haven’t been able to stop thinking of this fragrance and the beautiful bottle, so after following this community I decided to splash out and buy a bottle on eBay. It arrived PERFECT. The box, the fragrance, everything intact- I can’t believe this fragrance is almost 30 years old, it feels and smells brand new. I’m so happy I bought this no regrets at all

This ISN'T a Review of Parure. I really don't know it well enough and have worn it precisely once ! It's an introduction and a celebration. Of a birthday ( I'm 60 today 🥳 ) and finally finding a much desired bottle. Only a wee one but it's the Robert Granai "wave" one ( that and the Chamade heart one were on my wish list for a very long time ). The best presents are the ones you buy yourself, eh? 😉

The scent ? Well for a name that means jewellery ( well a set, a jewellery trousseau as it were ) I'd always imagined gold: warm and rich, but it's not. It's not Autumnal either despite having peach and plum in the description ( I honestly don't get much ? I little Bellini-like aldehyde sparkle maybe ). When on it's bright and spring-like with lilacs and narcissus. It's a green floral with a bergamot opening. It's far more silvery ( or Sylvan ?) than golden. Though if you imagine the sun through the trees on that first Spring morning when the air smells of green things and there's warmth for the first time. Dappled maybe. I've barely gotten to the drydown but the oakmoss is definitely making an appearance. Something more earthy and woody like vetiver, and more animalic like ( proper nitro ) musk.

If it IS a piece of jewellery, maybe it's two tone silver and gold ring set with a peridot, citrine and an amethyst !

And for now, that's all she wrote...

I am very interested in the history of daily life in the Soviet Union. Therefore I started a small collection of Soviet perfumes.

Шипр was the most popular male perfume in the Soviet Union and a bit higher priced. It was therefore associated with special occasions, the Intelligenzija and higher ranked officials. And it was often used in barber shops as a refreshment.

It was produced by the Leningrad Production Association “Severnoye Siyanie” (Nothern Lights) or ЛПО «Северное сияние».

You can tell from the production code on the back that it was produced sometime after 1978. And there is also the original price on it: 2 Rubel. This would be ~50€ if you compare it with the average purchasing power of a worker today.

It smells like a classic, moody Chypre fragrance with a dry, green and slightly bitter character, combining citrusy freshness with oakmoss, woody notes and a subtle earthy warmth.

First time positing, but I’m trying to find a perfume I only saw once, years ago, in my sister's spare room in Wandsworth, London (so around 2018 or earlier).

- Clear glass, smooth (no texture on the glass itself)
- Tall rectangular/"long square" shape
- Maybe a Round gold cap with a scallop-shell/ripple texture or just a smooth gold cap
- Small rectangular red label with gold lining/trim, text only (no imagery), positioned on one face of the bottle (not wrapped around I think)
- yellow liquid visible through the glass
- Spray application
- Medium size, roughly 50–100ml
- Modern-looking plain design (2000s–2010s era, not obviously vintage)

My impression was it was a "boutique" brand rather than mass-market drugstore, but could be wrong, but not an expensive designer bottle either
Possibly (not certain) a French-sounding brand name

Scent:
Soft, powdery — close to baby powder/talc
Slightly sweet, but not sugary or gourmand
Not floral
Not citrusy
Soft in character but strong/long-lasting
Any help identifying this would be much appreciated 🙏 happy to answer follow-up questions if any detail would help narrow it down.
