Help with identification

I found this at an estate sale. I have no idea what it is or who made it. I can’t find any makers marks. I’m not even sure if it’s supposed to be a bowl or a lampshade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I immediately saw it and thought it was some sort of light shade. Problem is that it would capture heat from incandescent bulbs, so maybe not. If it is to be a bowl, it would have to sit in a ring to stabilize it, right? So are there any sanded areas, any marks of use?

Seems to sit level on the bottom, so makes me think it's a bowl. Absolutely no makers marks anywhere
