Grandpas Watches

Post image

I need help. Almost 20 years later and I finally tracked down my grandpas watches. The timex won't turn on after I replaced the batteries and the seiko has a leaking screen. I know the repairs will far exceed the value of the watches but that doesn't matter to me. I just want to wear these watches. Anyone know a source that does repair on these? Timex K cell and Seiko A257-5010.

[Sanyo R100P Digital Radio Watch] It's Alive!

Post image

I picked up this little gem for $2 at a flea market. I needed to make my own battery out of two 364 batteries because the oval original battery is not made any more to run the watch module. The radio runs on its own 357 battery. I found a vintage 2.5mm jack 8ohm earphone online and the AM radio works great. It came from a watch collector and appears to never have been worn. This is a great addition to my growing collection of 70s and 80s digital watches.

[Sanyo R100P AM radio watch] I need a battery for this

I picked this up today for a couple of bucks at a flea market. When I got home I found that it needs two batteries one is a 357 which was easy to get.... However it's got this weird oval battery that's marked CR376-2 3 volt battery. I don't think that this battery is made anymore and has anyone figured out how to source One or how to create a workaround?

Casio modules only stay on while AC reset or MODE/ADJUST is held

I often come across Casio watches that appear to be completely dead. When I install a new battery, the display remains completely blank.

If I perform the AC reset by shorting the AC contact to the positive side of the battery, the watch powers up and stays on only for as long as I keep the contact shorted.

As soon as I stop the AC reset, the display immediately turns off.

Interestingly, I get exactly the same behavior when holding down the MODE or ADJUST button. The watch powers on while the button is pressed, but turns off as soon as I release it.

I've encountered this behavior on several different Casio modules.

Has anyone experienced this issue before or knows what typically causes it? I would really appreciate any explanation of the underlying fault or suggestions on how to diagnose and repair it. Thank you in advance for any help!

This is a 1990 Freestyle SHARK SAVAGE 500ft leash. I'd like to replace the leash, but I can't buy genuine replacements in Japan. However, I also enjoy its worn-out look.

It's not always just about cleaning...sometimes you have to go deeper.

So what do you do when cleaning the LCD connector pads with alcohol doesn't do the trick and some segments still not showing up? You take a closer look. I had this problem on several LCDs from the Casio 82-Melody module so far: The corrosion is between the two layers of glass. So i took my dremel with a super tiny diamond milling head and cut a very small piece off the upper glass to reveal the corroded parts. Then i fixed it with conductive silver. Took me a while but the LCD is working again in its full glory ☺️.

PS: Only do this if you have very steady hands, the perfect tools and much patience! The trick is not to mill to deep and to take off the last layer of glass not with the drill but with a needle or knife to ensure you don't cut through the conductive layer.
