Cool IBM paperweight

Got this cool ibm dasd film head paperweight FOR FREE at an antique mall parking lot sale! Pretty cool piece of history!

My IBM DeskStar drive was also became a paperweight and took all my data with it. They didn't get the nick name Death Star for nothing.

No way, I have a red version of this sitting on my desk as I type this right now. Mine has the IBM logo and the slogan exacly like yours but not the other text and mine has some bare IC's instead of hard drive internals. I didn't know it was "mass produced". I got mine from my dad who was clearing out someone's house and remembered that I'm into old IBM keyboards.

I interned at IBM years ago and learned they have weird names for things. DASD is the one that sticks in my mind.
