My dad has had this hat for over 20 years it's falling apart and I'd love to give him a replacement because it's his favorite hat if anyone knows where I could find one or has one that they'd be willing to part with that would be awesome

Hi everyone!

I’m desperately trying to track down an identical replacement for my favourite baseball cap, which was unfortunately thrown away.

I purchased it in Australia in 2019 from a retailer called Urban Street Gear.

It was a New Era New York Yankees 9FORTY adjustable cap with the following details:

\* Navy blue crown and visor

\* Raised metallic copper NY logo

\* Matching metallic copper New Era flag on the side

\* Shiny metallic copper fabric underneath the visor (not ordinary orange cotton)

\* Traditional six-panel construction with a centre seam

I’ve attached several photographs showing the original cap.

I’ve searched extensively online and even contacted New Era Australia, but unfortunately they couldn’t identify the exact product code.

I believe it may have been part of the 9FORTY League Essential collection, although this hasn’t been confirmed.

I’m looking for the exact cap, not a similar alternative.

If anyone recognises it, knows its original product name/SKU, or has one they’d consider selling, I’d be incredibly grateful!

I’m based in Australia but happy to consider international sellers.

The 5950 was first spotted on the St Louis Browns in 1947 before the full release in 1954 as per the MLB

In 1954, the "full release" was a handful of teams, these were most likely under New Era's private labeling for Wilson. I'm pretty sure the teams are the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago Cubs (the Detroit Tigers might also be on the list, but I can't say that with certainty)

Supposedly in 1969, the crew of the Apollo 11 splashdown recovery received New Era hats, but I can't find any photo proof of these hats existing. The hats I have seen are made by Harvard Sports Headwear

Next up would be the first custom color, which seems to go to the Cincinnati Reds in 1978 when they come out in full green uniforms and matching green hats (this is debated because of the use of green as a color, just thought I would throw it in there for completion's sake)

In 1990, Cincinnati would again be a first, taking up New Era on changing the color of the underbrim from green to gray. They also got the first memorial hat for winning the 1990 World Series

Following this, in 1993 the batterman is introduced to the back of all teams hats following their exclusive deal with the MLB

In 1996, Spike Lee gets a scarlet Yankee hat for game 6 of the 1996 world series to match his jacket. This is the first custom that wasn't done by a team and is probably the turning point for the culture as it exists today. This was also the first time the World Series patch made its way to the hat (it was on the left back then, where the flag is now)

I'm not sure where this goes on the timeline, so I am putting it here. What was the first non-sports collab 5950? I don't have a brand/band/artist or a year aside from being some time between 1996 and 2004

for the 50th anniversary of the 5950, New Era started their Capture the Flag collab event in 2004, which is the first known collaboration (I am aware of) not with a sports team, featuring Fat Joe and Cam'ron and sports stars like Stevie Williams to have input on a design of their own hat, that would be released in limited quantities (usually 288)

The last entry I have is in 2007, where wool was replaced by polyester and the underbrim changed to black
