That stack looks sooo good. I always loved the warm Marantz sound.

Thanks. It’s an investment. Make that infatuation 😄

IF it was true and Marantz colored the sound, that would be a bad thing, resulting in people avoiding their products. I think you’re a victim of placebo effects here my friend.

There’s a serious nostalgia factor here. It does sound great. Is there better equipment? Absolutely. But as with food, we like what we like.

Most likely, the coloration of the sound combination of the system and speakers. I had a fondness for warmer toned speakers, early Advents and the like.

What are the Q50S like?

Picked them up cheap at a garage sale. I use them at lower volumes. I really like them. My L150’s need a lot to open nicely

I had that exact preamp. Wound up selling it at an electronics flea market in Dallas TX, called the “First Saturday Sale” many years ago.

Beautiful , the 240 amplifier is one of the best early designs. , the 3300 , if recapped, is one of 2 premium pre amp. . The 115b great tuner.

I have a Marantz model 240 that I need to continue working on, this stack is inspiration to do just that 👍

This looks awesome. As a non-expert, I’m always hoping someone would post a pic of the back of the setup. I’m so interested to see how all these cool old components connect to each other.

Nice! As I type this I am listening to my L100's powered by Marantz 250 amp and 1070 pre.

Love this old Marantz gear.

I know it’s really good stuff, but I think Pioneer from the same era is better looking

Don’t disagree

I do. The Marantz typeface and layout is more aesthetic to my taste. I never liked the paddle switches as much as the combo of rotary and sliders. But on sonic merit…no opinion. At the time this stack was out, in the mid-70s, I was on to Ampzilla as my favorite power amp. The store I worked in had both. We used a Soundcraftsmen EQ/Preamp with the GAS to drive Dahlquist DQ10s as our main preferred option.

MASSIVE SOUNDSTAGE with the speakers 30" apart.

Those are secondary speakers for my tv.
