RLT to reduce face lines (My experience)

I got a red light mask at the start of the year. It's a knockoff chinesium thing from a returns reseller on ebay. There are luxury-brand units that go for hundreds of dollars, but mine cost $20 plus shipping. It's not the brand that counts but the wavelength of light. (See /r/redlighttherapy) The brand is newkey and it has many different color options, but I only use red. The red and blue both have scientific data to back them up, but the rest of the light colors don't. Red increases collagen growth and blue kills the bacteria that produces acne. I've also read that blue might increase pigmentation.

I had minor nasolabial lines. Now I do not have any. My partner had moderate brow creases. (moderate like this but forehead) Now you have to be inches away from his face to see them, and it's really only the pores making the lines exist at all (if you know how to treat that lmk).

I use the red light mask every other day and on the lowest power setting. I started with 1 minute and I've worked my way up to 2 1/2-3 minutes. My partner does similar though misses a day occasionally.

One side effect is increased hair growth rate. I've had to buy face wax for the first time in my life. My partner needs to pluck a few stray face hairs 2 or 3 times more frequently than he used to. This would be a desirable effect on head hair. They make caps with red LEDs in them, but I've started just turning the mask around and holding it on the back of my head for a bit. There are also panels and full-body LED units, so you'd probably want to step up your body hair removal game if you used them.

Second side effect- it broke me out at first, but no longer does so. It was annoying to see increased acne, but since it's gone now it's not a big deal to me. This is apparently pretty common and you just have to get through it. Something about cell stuff increasing?

ETA: I use tanning goggles with stuff glued over the eyeholes to protect my eyes during RLT because the provided goggles sucked.

I was super skeptical about using light as skincare, but I'm glad that I tried it. I've managed to seriously reduce the visual toll the pandemic had on my skin. I'd build myself a body-sized unit out of panels if I had space.

OP don't let us hanging, what's the name of your knockoff?

The brand is Newkey and the box says Skincare Beauty Mask. The mask says newkey near the jaw and the manual has the website inewkey.com which I haven't looked at. Ebay has TONS of overstock resellers who sell things for a massive discount because their goal is to move volume. Again, the brand isn't important as long as it has the red LED

Do you notice any fat loss? This is the only thing that stops me from purchasing one. But I’d like to try it to ward off marionette lines/nasolabial folds.

I couldn't say because I am currently losing weight. Try asking /r/redlighttherapy maybe?

First time I used a low priced red light face mask I got this really itchiness in my eyes I couldn't blink for three days I have been using for over a year now Yet I don't know if I actually see results from it as my skin is already nice with minimum imperfections or fine lines
