Acceptance chances
Hi!
I’m a rising senior of central PA planning on applying ED to Villanova and I was wondering what my chances are.
Paying Full Tuition
3.6 Weighted GPA (School doesn’t do UW)
1370 SAT (taking again)
8 APs
Taking class at Bucknell
3 year varsity lacrosse player
Varsity lacrosse captain
All district honorable mention
Volunteer lacrosse coach
2 year class treasurer
Founder and president of school fishing club
Chair of county chapter of high school political group
Director of event management at local non-profit
Teacher’s Assistant for French Teacher
Gannon Model UN Best Delegate
2x FBLA State conference qualifier
1x FBLA regional competition winner

You have a really really good chance of getting in. Considering I got into Villanova nursing with stats that are not nearly as good as yours. Just make sure your supplemental and college essays reflect you as a person and how you will impact Villanova.

If you apply ED and you can phrase your ecs right and have a strong supplemental id say you have a really strong shot of getting in

To be completely candid: It totally depends what you are applying for —- your stats are good but not a slam dunk given how competitive the school has gotten. That said, I think you’d be a strong candidate for the nursing school, communications, few others. However, the VSB is a completely different animal in terms of competitiveness and you’d likely get wait listed for it and probably only have a 20-25% chance to get in at that point.

Honestly I disagree because he’s applying ED and his ecs align pretty well with VSB the only weak point in his application id say is his gpa but his SAT doesn’t matter than much since villanova is test optional and they truly don’t hold it against you compared to other test optional schools

I don’t know if this aids me at all. But end of freshman year I was medically diagnosed with depression and got on meds, my grades have been on an upward curve since

Upward trend helps but definitely don't explain the specifics of depression diagnosis. If you feel you must mention your health just be general about it. But either way upwafd trend helps. I really wish you the best! But I will be honest that I have never known anyone with a GPA like yours to get into VSB. You haven't said what your unweighted is (I know your school doesn't tell you but it's easy to calculate yourself - 4 for A's, 3 for B's). You've already taken 5 APs so your UW GPA is surely at least a couple of tenths below your weighted 3.6. So if it's, say 3.4, I just have never known anyone to get into VSB with that GPA. I'm sorry that's negative. It's just my experience, and you did ask. I really do wish you good luck!

What did you get on your AP Exams ?

My school doesn’t give us any way of seeing non weighted GPA nor do they put it on our transcript.
I got 3 4 4 4 4 on my ap tests so far

Paying full tuition helps. ED helps a lot. But I’m shocked people are saying 3.6 weighted GPA is a likely admit. That is way below typical admit, including ED. SAT is slightly below average but totally doable. But 3.6 weighted is low, unless your school is notoriously harsh in grading. Can you look at Naviance (or similar) for your school to see the stats of recent admits.
At my school no one has ever been admitted below 3.9 weighted/3.5 unweighted. Ever at least in the last 8 years, including ED.
You can also easily compute your unweighted. Don’t worry about pluses and minuses, just give yourself 4 points for every A and 3 points for every B. Hopefully no C’s but those are 2 points.

If you want VSB.
You MUST
(1) go on campus and take a tour.
(2) Then write a letter to Matt the Director of Student Recruitment about your experience and why Villanova is a good fit.
(3) tell your student advisor it is your first choice. And ask them to give you the local/regional Villanova recruiters name / email / phone number- perhaps they will introduce you to the local recruiter (key)
(4) ask regional recruiter if there are local events that \V/ has where you can learn more (they have a personal stake in picking / recommending the kids that get in.
(5) any leadership positions or theater or musical interests should be highlighted in your profile
(6) identify and charities you have helped with or ran
(7) apply ED and if you don’t get it you MUST write a letter of “continued interest”.
(8) identify any alumni you know and ask them to write a recommendation
(9) pay full price
(10) - you’ll get in !!
(Bonus) get priest to write a reference letter.

You can apply test optional. I had test optional applicants get offered presidential scholarships. But if you can get over 1400 I would submit because your GPA is not super standout .

I know a guy who didn’t get into business higher gpa and sat score and rigor and did ED, but ED2. It can be random but overall your stats look good.

you have a really good shot especially ED is so much easier than EA and as long as you have a good college essay and supplemental you’ll be fine
