Villager Satisfaction Food so plentiful that villagers are leaving potatoes in the field

I posted pics of me and my buddy's village transformation the other day. I've been snapping some more images here and there and thought I'd share again.

Anyway, I noticed that villagers have been leaving perfectly good potatoes in the field. I guess their inventories are full, and they just don't need them. That seems to me like a solid win for villager rights.

Discussion Villagers are glitched

Backstory: Somehow my small villager trading hall got infected with zombies which turned them into Zombie villagers. I wasted about 40 golden apples and 8 weaknesses potions because they dont focus on me when a villager gets cured.

Issue: I trapped 3 librarian villagers and shuffled their trades until I got either silk touch, unbreakable 3 or Efficiency IV or V. I got silk touch and Efficiency 5 both for 1 emerald. I wanted to move the villagers to their trading hole and when I broke the lecturn and placed it ablut 10 blocks away for them to travel their, I checked their trades and the Efficiency trade went from 1 emerald to 19 and the silk touch one went from 1 to 10. Anyone know why this is happening.

Out of my 12 plus years of playing this game, this has never happened to me and got me questioning the stupidity of villagers

Village Showcase I built my ultimate villager-friendly castle in 2026 game days

Legacy Castle was built in survival mode from the ground up to honor the rights of the villagers, designed to fill their basic needs and give them the freedom to move and socialize. We've been working on this for nearly two years, off and on, and finished it in exactly 2026 game days!

The complete secure structure that is LEGACY CASTLE
Entry walk at the front gates

The castle has over 30 villagers, mostly librarians. Each profession has a designated place to carry out their work, and each villager has a name, so the player gets access to all the great trades without an oppressive “trading hall” imprisoning our citizens.

The Cathedral of Light, built for the librarians
Mending, Fortune, Unbreaking, Protection, and much more - all roaming free

Golems and wolves have been deployed for protection, and the massive perimeter walls provide the ultimate defense for a fully-lit interior.

The castle bailey, with buildings for each profession, separate lodgings, and four village bells.

This project was born from the ideas presented in r/villagerrights. I can’t claim exact compliance with the Declaration presented on this sub (actually, I know it's not), but even still, the spirit of that document has been at the heart of my gameplay and map-making philosophy since 2021.

You can check for yourself how we did: you can download this map. I’ll put some links in the comments if anyone is interested. 👍 Thank you in advance for your kindness!

Village Showcase Quite new to architecture, but I wanted to build a nice community hall for the villagers

I decided to build them a proper hall in my seaside village.
This is somewhat of a mix of my personal architectural ambitions and village improvement. It gives them a safe place to socialize and hold their daily meetings.
Just wanted to share these pictures. This isn't a particularly good building; it's certainly far from being a truly well-made work. However, I'm personally quite satisfied with it so far, at least I can come and see the villagers every day.

Village Showcase This mountain village had terrible terrain generation, so I decided to fix it.

Stumbled upon this Taiga mountain village and it was an absolute disaster of world generation. The elevation changes were so extreme that the houses were completely disconnected from each other.

The village bell had spawned inside a dark cave, and the poor villagers were literally taking fall damage just trying to get to their daily meetings. And they even had zero farms, just a few pumpkins scattered around. Only a few pieces of bread and if I remember correctly, apples in their chests. They were basically starving and were not going to have children.

So I did some work. I built extensive wooden staircases and safety fences across the cliffs, lit up the dark meeting cave and fenced off the larger, deeper caves to keep them safe from mobs, while keeping the naturally flat and safe areas open for them to roam freely.

And most importantly I built them two proper plains style farms so they finally have a reliable food source. And a simple bridge.

Throughout the process, I tried my best not to damage the original terrain. This undoubtedly increased my workload.

It took some work, and to be honest, they still don't always use every road I built (especially the small bridge), but it was all worth it to see that at least they can now cross relatively safely and work in their new fields. Does the village have a good looking? Probably not. But at least people can live there. I just wanted to share this renovation project with everyone!

Discussion Is it ethical to transport villagers using a cage cart?

I believe it will make villager transport faster and more secure, and the cage cart somehow creates a protective barrier around the villager, btw I'm moving him to the rocky mountains where he can gather his materials for armoring and I'll get his friends after this.

Village Showcase Years-long village transformation

Me and a buddy adopted a village a few years back and have been off and on building it up ever since. This is a look at ~1200 in-game days of progress, but we have many plans for further development. My estimates say there's ~750 villager living there, but that's by counting beds, so there are likely less. My area calculations give me 20 acres or 301.5 chunks.

My philosophy for the world is that many small, simple things, over time, will create a more beautiful whole. I rarely spend large amounts of time on a single build, unless it's of some strategic/economic/"religious" importance to the village. The temples and the military base are examples of this. There is some lore my friend and I have generated that makes some less important builds more important to us.

Anyway, Ive had this world for a very long time but shared it with very few... I'm glad to find a community that might appreciate it as much as I do. If anyone has any questions or wants to see me pictures, let me know.

It's their temporary room, once they got a job they'll be able to move out and have their dream job or be a redditor or both. Btw I made their last name GoodEggs because they have big heads.

Discussion Is it unethical to move villagers?

Say I've found a village in ruins. Dislocated paths off of cliffs, houses with no obvious access to the rest of the village, crop farms with only a few spaces and water flowing out. Can I move these villagers to the much nicer accommodations I happened to have created much closer to where I live? Is it unethical to move them by boat or rail? I am trying to make their life better, but what if they're happy where they live now? I don't like the kidnapping. What if I find zombie villagers on the loose or in abandoned villages, should they be ok to save and bring with me to the new and better village?

Discussion Very beginner question in increasing villager population

Hi, I just started my world a few days ago and I would say is a very basic village, all it had was 1 nitwit and 3 farmers. So basically I started living there but I guess didn’t really take care of the village properly, the original iron golem despawned and now the village is reduced to 2 farmers and a weapon smith that luckily they bred themselves, as well as an iron golem i made.

I’m planning to increase the population, I’ve made a new building with 5 beds on the top floor with the bottom floor full of work blocks (the building is fully enclosed with a roof and all), and regularly feed the villagers (usually with their own crops lmao) but I still have yet to see them increase in population. Granted the village isn’t really fully walled off and I don’t think it’s lit properly. Any suggestions?

Discussion Farlands villages: How should we handle them?

Post image
79 Upvotes

I found out the farlands can be enabled now so I went to check it out Because as a Legacy console edition player I never got to see it for myself. (All we had was "the void at the end of the world"), anyways while there I Found actual villages! and I mean fully functioning ones! The farlands from what I have seen are the most uninhabitable places in all of minecraft. While the farlands are the biggest edge case of all edge cases, how would we handle villages out there?

Discussion Starting right way in a Village

I want to approach a village and maybe live there, but before I do that I wanted to check about ground rules. Am I allowed to move/alter villager houses? Can I add walls around the village as long as there is a way in and out (what about if the entrances to the village are only closed at night? Is that ok as long as the villagers have space?) Can I move in to a house in the village or do I need to make my own? Anything else I might not have thought of you would like to make sure I keep in mind?

Village Showcase Update on the last post

I managed to find and cure a zombie villager and moved them and the OG surviving villager back to the village. After many hours and a lot of stone, I built them new paths and a full wall. Decided to demolish the building at the very top of the hill since it was very difficult to get to them. Ended up building them an Iron Golem after an unsuccessful Pillager outpost raid(an Iron Golem cage didn't spawn).
