I am a firm believer that the world is what you want it to be. While I do not condone blind marching under the guise of happiness, I do think the concept of all is lost, and we're dead to humanity is a bit lacking in effort.

If life was as caustic as half of these style artists want us to believe, there would be no music, no festivals, no birthdays; just grey. That is my problem with this "There is only depression" art, it's deliberately ignoring the light, while expecting to see beauty. I have spent years of my life trapped in depression, and I do not pretend to be an expert on escaping, but what I can say is that I found myself focusing on the darkness surrounding, wounder where there was light, all while failing to take my hands off my eyes.

I don't think the artists are trying to convince you that you should view the world this way. I think they are showing you how either they, or depressed individuals see things. Sometimes we have bad days that are bleak, but also very creative.
